Congrats on your anniversary!!!!!
Don't feel too bad about the plateau it seems that alot of us plateaued at the same time. I am still waiting for it to end. I feel short changed myself but I am still telling myself that they say 1-2 years for weight loss so we still have another year, just gotta work a little harder.

Topic: RE: Why do so many after surgery break up with there spouse?
I'm sorry you're going through this... I read about how common this actually is... as you regain your self esteem and self confidence, your partner feels threatened and insecure. Makes no sense to me
Maybe you guys could try counseling?
Topic: RE: Hi, my anniversary is next Thursday the 23rd!
Lauren,
Sounds like you are doing well. The Fibromyalgia being such a pain makes it so hard but you are doing well and should be applauded to overcome your obstacles. Keep up the good work and HAPPY ONE YEAR TO YOU!
Debbie

RE: Take the 1 yr. Poll.....
1. Surgery Date: *June 23, 2004
2. Height: *5' 4"
3. Day of Surgery Weight: *332.9
4. One Year Weight: *238 or so
4a. GOAL WEIGHT: *100 pounds down, then out of the 200's.
5. Best Health Habit that you have acquired since surgery?
*Having my husband check ingredients in food before we buy it; substituting better choices for junk food.
6. The Worst Habit that you still possess even after surgery that you know you shouldn't?
*eating things I shouldn't; tendency to graze on sunflower seeds in the shells.
7. During your 1st six months did you?
A. Follow instructions to a tee and do everything physician instructed.
B. Occasionally eat something that wasn't that good for you
C. Cheat like a fiend all the time
*A, though I tried other things when I thought I was ready for them; my dr. is not as strict as some. He lets me have diet cola, which, for some, is a no-no.
8. During the 2nd part of the 1st year did you?
A. Follow instructions and do everything your physician instructed.
B. Occasionally eat something that wasn't that good for you
C. Cheat like a fiend all the time
*B. Occasionally I am somewhere that food I would do well not to have is there, and I have sneaked a little; not much, though.
9. Do you feel that these habits have slowed down your progress?
*A little, if I followed everything to a T, I would most likely be at goal now
However, if I am too strict, I begin to resent it, regarding the changes as a punitive diet rather than a way of life. One friend calls it "planned cheating," LOL, which, for me, needs to happen now and then.
10. Do you exercise on a regular basis (meaning at least 3 times a week)?
*No, and I worry about it. I feel so tired much of the time; most likely from meds and/or fibromyalgia fatigue. If I had an exercise buddy to walk with or go to the pool with, I'd do better. My husband, Jim, has been my buddy the past 8 years, however, his health and stamina are going down as mine have increased, which is somewhat problematic.
I have done some dr.-ordered pool therapy; just not as on schedule as I really need to be. (I seem to have other things come up such as my husband being hospitalized, my having serious ear infections and balance problems until I get tubes put in etc.)
11. Have you had plastic surgery as of yet?
*no; don't know if I will.
12. Did you lose more weight after the plastic surgery?
*N/A as I have not crossed that bridge yet
13. Was it worth it ?( Plastic surgery ?)
*N/A as I haven't done that.
14. What's the MOST POSITIVE thing to come out of having this surgery for you?
*Being able to move around and do normal activities, all of which I can do now, even at this still-above-average-weight--I made it to the ocean so much easier, over Memorial Day weekend!.
15. What's the MOST NEGATIVE thing that has resulted from having this surgery for you?
*Plateauing sooner than I'd expected--however, I have not gained. Fear that I'll sabotage things and it won't work out permanently.
16. On a scale from 1-10 How would you rate your use of your new TOOL?
*7 to 8; there are still areas I need to work on
17. Would you go through this again?
*Yes; but glad I don't have to. I think this is the best decision I ever made!
18. BIGGEST FEAR now that 1 yr. anniversary is here...
*Not reaching my goal weight, and GAINING IT ALL BACK and certain people saying "I told you so," as they expect me to fail.....
Thanks. This was a really good anniversary project for me. Jim and I have not decided yet how we will celebrate this anniversary, however, I am 100% sure it will include you know what--food--better food though!
Topic: Hi, my anniversary is next Thursday the 23rd!
Hi,
I haven't been on the boards much lately, but with my surgery anniversary coming up, all of a sudden, here I am.
I have done just fine, however, I have felt a little down lately because I plateaued at 8 months out and felt a little short-changed, thinking I had more time to lose. I am 90-some pounds down; so close to the century mark, but probably will not make it to 100 pounds down by next Thursday because I don't want to starve myself and be susceptible to more infections.
I have lost well in the face, arms, legs etc, but my body weight mass is still in the middle and bottom.
I have eaten fairly well, for me, substituting things for foods I used to eat in the junk variety. I do not get as much exercise as I need to. I think some of the meds I am on and the fibromyalgia slow me down.
My husband and I moved to an apartment where there is room to walk and a pool. I also got an exercise bike, since I had so much trouble with balance on the treadmill and those who live below us would probably have wanted to kill us for the noise, if I'd kept it.
I am able to walk much farther and I do not get nearly so out of breath as I did. I am really glad of that.
Hope all the rest of you who had surgery around the time I did are doing well now.
thanks.
Lauren
Topic: RE: How have you celebrated your anniversary?
Hi all....
I would like to celebrate with a big party....But, I will be in the hospital again...What am I a glutten for punishment???? I will be having my TT done on the 28th in Nashville. I can't wait. I know it is for a good cause.
So I will not dwell on not having friends over or a big tado...I know when I come home I will be in a solid 6,(down from a 24 pants and a 46-48 top) which makes me very happy. I do wish everyone a very Happy reBirthday.
I know all are happy about the choices they made a year ago. I know I am. And would do it all over again, if I had to.....
Congrats on your year of new life. I hope everyone will continue to have a happy life and be proud of the chance they have been given.

Topic: Why do so many after surgery break up with there spouse?
Why do we have problems with our relationships after surgery ? I'm 1 year out and been with my kids dad for 12 1/2 years and all we do is argue now he always wants to break up with me ! Before all I did was stay home and be depressed now I love my life and want to enjoy it and go out more ! Why can't they be supportive and understand us instead of argue all the time it gets old !!!
