Topic: RE: Protein questions...
Hi. I am almost 6 weeks out and have had problems getting in all of my protein. I now eat grilled fish like halibut. I also eat cold shrimp. My favorite food now is Wendy's chili. I haven't had any problems getting that down. I haven't really tried any other meat besides ground beef and fish. The Dr. told me that I can eat white toast, but it goes down bad. I can stomach and egg once in awhile and also make tuna salad to eat on saltines. I take string cheese to work for my snack.
Keep trying new foods. It's really hit or miss.
Good luck.

Count me in as one of the tired ones! The week before last I couldn't remember what tired was...maybe I overdid it because this week I am back to no energy and just keeping the house picked up is all I can manage. I want to work outside but can't seem to get up and go. I just keep reminding myself that everyone says it gets better. Getting my protein, drinking water, walked once this week and hope to make myself walk tonight. mj
Topic: RE: Need more Protein....
I would suggest bariatriceating.com They sell many different types of protein, both liquid and powder. I, too was having problems getting protein in, then I found this site. I have only tried one powder--the Proplete Gold, but it is great!!! They have a wide choice of flavors. I too was trying to get protein from instant breakfast, and it just wasn't working. I found that the proplete goes down much easier and faster than instant breakfast too. Hope this helps a little, and good luck.

I'm 5 weeks out and I still tire easily, but I do have more endurance than before surgery. I got my check up yesterday and was reminded I had major surgery. I was told to pace myself. I was also told I was not getting enough water. My pouch hurts/uncomfortable most of the time, eating or not (actually feels better empty). But I have a UTI from not drinking enough water, ( the dizzyness/lighthead is from not getting enough water) so today I am trying to get in the water, I was told I would feel better and some people just have a more sensitive pouch or it takes longer for it to heal. Please discuss your feelings with your doc. I was told to eat a few bites of protien at least twice a day. I can't do much so I'm going to just eat some cheese cubes and see if my pouch gets to feeling better. The post-pos that are further out than us say it does get better. My daughter had wls 2 years ago and she is doing great, eats what she wants and looks and feels great. So there is hope.

I still get tired easily but I feel a little stronger each day. Most of the time sucking on sugar free peppermints or having a cup of hot tea will settle my stomach. Make sure you are eating often enough to keep your blood sugar at a normal level and if the light-headedness continues, call your doctor.

I take Optisource. It is made specifically for Bariatric patients. I can only get it at walgreens.com. It is $25.00 for a one month supply. Tastes good too.

I am 7 weeks post op and I still feel tired. Yesterday I worked around the outside of my house. Pull weeds, wash the stains on my house and then took a nap for an hour. I don't feel like eating but I have a feeling your blood sugars might be low. Give them a check and tell your doctor.
Take care

Way to go Nancy... your doing great !!! I had to chuckle.. when you mentioned having to learn.. the hard way about not chewing good enough. I told my dr. yesterday that I got sick once from not chewing my food well enough. But i also told him that I was glad I did.... cuz then I knew for sure he had put a band in me !! He laughed. I have felt so good, other then eating smaller amounts, and having a few little scars on my belly, I would never guess that I had surgery !! I love my band !!
Continued good luck to you on your journey to a healthier YOU !!
