From what I have been told, sufficient protein intake is the key to not losing hair, so I have been dilegent about getting in my protein every day. The source for me has been the protein shakes in the morning which gives me 30 grams to start the day. Lunch & dinner I eat protein first (2-3 oz of either chicken, shrimp, eggs, cheese, ham) then if I am still hungry I will have a couple of bites of vegetable. So far I have not loss my hair. *keeping fingers crossed* I hope never do. Best wishes to all. Terri 270/229/150 Lap RNY 6/10/04

Are you getting in enough protein? My Dr. wants me to intake 60-80 grams of protein daily. It's hard to do sometimes, but better than losing those hairs. Good luck!

No, you're not alone. I had my open RNY on 6/7/04 ( 8 weeks out) and have my days of feeling really "draggy". I usually try to get more protein in on those days, which seems to help. Also, since i've started walking daily and going to Curves, I do have more energy, so I think any activity helps build up your energy level and stamina. Just keep your head up and keep that body moving.

Oh yes... Hubby already said, with the hair I am losing, he could make a wig And I am taking my vitamins, so that can't be it. Check the main board sometimes, they have several tips on hairloss prevention. I just haven't gotten around to trying them, but if this keeps up, I'll end up getting desparate enough to do ANYTHING LOL Andrea

Steve, I read your post and I saw myself there.. My main reason for having this surgery was to get healthy and see my kids grow up and be around for my family for a long time. Still in good shape, but developing medical problems, I knew it was time for me to do something drastic or possibly not survive that long. Diabetes and High Bloodpressure totally scared me and convinced me to do this, I'm now six weeks out, have no more medications and not a sign of neither ailment. Normal Bloodsugar, normal BP readings. What a blessing. Can't wait to see what I look like next year this time LOL Good luck on your journey, and congrats to you and your wife for your upcoming little one! Feel free to post on the board if you ever have questions, the folks here are very helpful and supportive, there is " no stupid question" , remember that!!! Andrea RNY 6/23/04 -27

Topic: RE: feeling restriction, FINALLY!
Hi Barbara! I've just quickly wanted to touch on that subject of sometimes eating more, other times less. I had that same issue and asked my dietician, she explained to me that some foods actually stay in your stomach, sometimes even over night, your pouch may work on that chicken from last night for about two hours, trying to "grind it" and then get tired of it and stop. Therefore, you still have some left and when you eat the next meal, you'll still have food in your stomach and therefore you won't eat as much. This can also lead you to "dumping" one half an egg in the morning, even if you've previously had a whole egg to eat for breakfast. So don't worry, you're completely normal. I have that issue with my favorite food, I think I can eat tons of refried beans w/ lowfat cheese, but when it comes to chicken, I take a few bites and I am totally full and satisfied. Love the broiled fish too, and roll some cheese inside of deli turkey and heat it up, it's amazing what we come up with when our choices of foods are limited LOL. I was cleared for regular food now, anything I want but veggies as long as they are well cooked and I chew them up good, I can have. However, I'm still hesitant, besides, I am doing well the way I am, I'm gonna keep up what I am doing and eventually try new stuff, but not just yet. Good luck and best wishes, Andrea

SWEETY AS LONG YOU CHEW EVERYTHING AND EAT SLOWLY YOU CAN EAT ALMOST ANYTHING EXCEPT BREAD IT JUST FULLS YOU UP QUICKLY AND ITS A UNCOMFORTABLE FEELING. BUT I EAT MEAT, RICE ONLY A LITTLE BIT BUT JUST REMEMBER CHEW AND WAIT A FEW MINUTES BEFORE YOU PUT THE NEXT BITE INTO YOUR MOUTH.
