Thanks for the words of encouragement! I am sure I will learn so much from all of you. Hopefully I will pass a few pearls of wisdom along the way! Keep on track.

LOL Eloise, you just reminded me of something I did last week. We have three BIG dogs (labrador retrievers) and it's economical to buy their dog food in the biggest bags possible.
I had to tote a 44-lb. bag of dog food up our entry stairs last weekend, and I thought I was gonna die, I could barely get my legs to support the weight of me plus that extra 44-lbs. I was winded by the time I got all the way to the top, and I was using the railing to pull myself along up.
Then my daughter reminded me that I'd lost about the same amount of weight as that big bag of dog food since my surgery. And I remembered that, prior to surgery, I was having to pull myself up the stairs using the railing, too! LOL. Now I can go up and down those babies several times a day . . . before, I was actually "grouping" my chores so I would only have to make one or two trips up or down the stairs.

Topic: Am I losing it ??
Hi everybody !! OK, will somebody refresh my memory, what does AMOS mean ?? I think I am having a 50's moment today and it is driving me crazy !! Thank you, thank you !!
Topic: RE: The scale finally MOVED!!!
Hi Barbara, I just had to get in here to see how you are doing !! My goals seem to be the same as yours.. I just got off my plateau and I finally got under 220... This morning I was 217, yahooo !!
I was 292 when I started and my goal is 150 lbs. too !! I hope I am being realistic.. I am only 5' 4" tall, at my age I just don't want to lose anymore than that.. I figure 142 lbs. is wonderful for anybody..
I see your plateau finally broke too. I hope all is going well for you, keep in touch.. Joanne

Hi Donna !! Welcome, welcome... You have just made one of the best choices of web sites, if I have to say it !! I feel a little repiticious (sp.)sometimes, but it is a wonderful place to be and so comforting, when we need support !! Everyone on board has had the same experiences, relatively !! A common denominator of this website is to support your wt. loss journey whether it is slow or fast or "not at all" !! Especially, not at all, a lot of us are plateauing which is very TOUGH, I know !! I have been there and it isn't fun.. But, ya know what, I finally decided, if I am doing all I can then there isn't anything else for me to do but Hang in there !! And that's what I just had to do these past 3 wks... New people help us too, believe it ir not !! If we can help new people coming on line, it is helping us, too !! I only came on line just before my surgery, June 1st. so I'm not that old myself on this website, but I am having the time of my life, and I feel like I've made the best decision I made for myself in years !!
So, once again, glad to meet you on line and jump in anytime you have the need for questions or just want to say Hi..
Have a wonderful day, Joanne
Topic: RE: Set your Turkey Day mini-goal here and now!!!
Ok i am gonna set a turkey day goal, and hope i dont get disappointed As long as I am still losing by turkey day i will be happy. I hope to break the 200 mark and be 199 by turkey day . June 8th I was 302, am down 72 pounds and now am 230. So I have 31 pounds to lose by turkey day. Gobble Gobble. Good idea Jamie

Welcome! I am also a "slow" loser. Not slow when I compare against diets i have been on and only lost 20 lbs in 4 months. To date I have lost 44 with the last 4 coming off this past week. This is a process that each of us has to learn and we are all different so what works for one of us mayl not work for the someone else. You are doing great.

I guess I'll set my goal at 206. I hope I make it. It's hard to believe T day is only 3 months away. Good luck to all.

I always think of bags of kitty litter, which come in heavy 20 pound bags which I HATE to carry up the stairs. That helps me feel better about the weight loss, though it's still slow.

Hi Donna,
Welcome aboard!
We're all in this together . . . and I'm finding that it is reassuring to sign on and vent when I need to . . . because I am learning from others' successes and experiences. When I thought I was losing to slowly (or eating too much), I wrote about it and found out that my experience was actually more typical of everyone else's than I had thought.
I just came off a 3-week mini-plateau where the scale didn't budge . . . but this past week it's been moving down again, thankfully.
