I agree about the bad press that WLS is getting. There's a "truth about Weight Loss Surgery" segment on one of our local news broadcasts tonight. I'm sure it's going to be negative, but I'm TIVOing it anyway. If it's really bad, I might have to contact them about doing an editorial rebuttal (appear on TV?!? -- something else I'd never even have considered before surgery). The surgery saved my life and my health. I'd bet that most of the reporters who do the sensational stories never had a weight problem. Like most of society, they'll never understand. Congratulations on the weight loss, and the excellent followups. I've also been blessed to have had no major complications. I hope everything continues to go well for all of us.

Hey guys, Its been awhile since I've logged on, but I still think of everyone! Haven't had a bad lab yet! Not getting the water & protien in that I should, but doing my best every day. I feel great...still no complications. Had full check out literally, endoscopy and colonoscopy, and MRI of my torso...all ok, no scar tissue issues, no herneas. I'm so sick of hearing all the media on bad WLS, I also know how lucky I've been and am! I'm a size 10 @ 154 lbs, loss of 170 lbs. God Bless guys! Love, Ang Updated profile, new pic soon!

Hi Junebugs! I am doing well and hope everyone else is as well! I have dropped a couple more pounds (I think as the result of my tummy tuck swelling FINALLY going down, I'm 10 weeks post-op from that surgery). So now I am floating between 153-156 and it all REALLY depends on my carb consumption. My original goal was 150 and I think I will make it in the next 6 weeks or so. I just want to hit that number LOL. I am still carrying weight in my thighs, I would love to pursue thigh lift one day when I win the lottery, but for now I'm stuck with saggy flabby skin and saddlebags. I desperately need breast lift and augmentation, my girls are looking SAD believe me. But for now a good padded bra is hiding the damage LOL. I lost a lot of weight in my face and my features look old and drawn at age 43. So much so that I think, after reaching goal just to see what I look like at doctor's recommended weight for me (I'm 5'5"), I am probably going to try to put 5-7 lbs back on to fill my face out a bit. I am a good candidate for either a neck lift or lower face lift. I didn't think I would be so self-conscious about this but I really hate looking older than my years. My skin is looking really dry and my hair looks unhealthy as well. I need to recommit to vitamin/protein regimen as well as I've been getting lax about my water intake. The good side is that I'm now a solid size 10 and loving life, I had to RUN somewhere yesterday (catching a loose toddler in a parking lot of a grocery store!) and it didn't even make me breathe hard. Amazing, considering I could barely WALK pre-rny in June 2004. Where IS everyone? I love reading this board and catching up with other folks' progress. -BJ 300/153/150 TT/hernia repair 11/29/05

Hey everyone! I have been struggling with making the right food choices. I have lost about 90 pounds so far and have 130 more to go. I have been stuck at 286 since September. This week I started walking 30 minutes everyday at the mall. It's not too bad. I'm working on my application for financial assistance at the YMCA. That will help. They have a pool. Then my dh found out that he has a herniated disc in his back and needs to lose weight. He has scarey high blood pressure too(200/118) which he takes meds for, but I'm now trying to cook healthy instead of eating out. I have a dd with autism so I like to eat out because it gives me a little break. I don't eat any fast food because I can't tolerate that kind of food which is fine. I'm trying to concentrate on the positive things I'm doing instead of the negative. Like last weekI started seeing a nutritionist to help me food plan. Keep seeing my counselor although it's seeming to be more for marriage counseling than for food issues. Oh well. Thanks for reading this I know it's wordy! Janet in KC 368/267/199

Hello Junebugs!! Well I am keeping steady. keeping around the same. gain 1-2 lbs and loose 1-2 lbs. that's not bad. I guess. I still find it so funny that people don't recognize me.LOL You know , I've spent more than 1/2 of my life as a fat person. now I'm on the "other" side. and you know what.!! I LIKE IT! I have reached my personal goal. of 145 lbs. the surgeon did not set any set goal for me. so the 145 lbs is my personal goal. I do not want to gain and I am constantly weighing myself. weither it is a good thing or a bad thing. I have been lazy lately. and need to step up the exercise . I can't wait for spring. I will be walking more than. winter makes me lazy. and I need to eat more veggies again. less carbs. carbs bad.... veggies good!! we all need to still keep in touch once in awhile. lest us not forget all our progress we've all been through so much and we all should be so proud or ourselves. WTG junebugs! Mary

You sound exactly like me! I've been going back and forth between 175 and 178 (180 on really bad scale days! Ack!) for... like... ever! But I'm back to journaling what I eat on my FITDAY program and it's really helping me keep focused. I want to say goodbye to my size 14 clothes forever. That's my goal for my two year surgiversary... Good luck to us! Angie

I've been struggling with the same 5 pounds for the last 5 months, but I decided that my "New Years Resolution" would be to committ myself back to the basics. I also started journalling what I eat, and was amazed at how many calories I was taking in. I knew I was starting to graze between meals, but didn't realize how bad it was getting... I'm now down 6 pounds in 3 weeks. My goal is 200, and I'm now at 225. I was sitting between 231 and 235 for months. I really want to be at (or below) goal for the 2 year follow up.

Hey Shawna.....Big ((((HUGS)))). I like the Santa photo. You look really good. I understand about the life...its hard to be in many places. I think you might be right about adjusting those time lines for goal weight. I am stuck at 211 lbs. Not like I am complaining but I want more. I hate the food demons more each day. I wish they would go away but I know they won't so I need to make sure I have ways to deal with them. I am doing 5 meals a day. I think I need to do less...some of my snacks are too big. I have to cut them in half. I do the Y and work out there with the weights and cardio stuff. Its fun and I don't mind going. I never said that before. I am coming down with a cold right now....But I still went to the gym. Very proud of myself for that one! Are you still making jerkie? Take care and glad you posted. Debbie
