How rude of them not to inform you of the change. I was upset when my doctor's staff forgot to post one of my appointments so when I started down there and called to confirm the appointment, I was told "oops", but at least he didn't do a dissapearing trick. Good luck with the physical therapist!! Krista

Thank you for the advice! I love nuts but have been sort of avoiding them because of the fat content. Still, I can eat so few now it can't hurt to try. Here's hoping that niether one of us need a wig!!! Krista

Hi Allyson, thanks for responding. I feel angry and letdown at the same time, I don't think I got what I (er, my insurance) "paid" for. I am losing weight, so the malabsorption part of the procedure is definitely in place, but they say that after a year or so out, the intestines begin absorbing again as they adapt. After reading what everyone else is eating portion-wise, I have been very careful and weighing and measuring everything. Sometimes I am still hungry after a "meal" and other times I'm not. Loading with water during non-meal times of day does not make me full as it runs right through me. I have been reading profiles where ladies are getting revisions for enlarged stomas by having a lap band placed . . . but depending on how large your stoma is, and the space the surgeon has to work with . . . that might not be an option for everyone. Also, if I am losing weight regardless, there's no way insurance will pick up costs for a revision. I will let you know what my surgeon has to say next week! -BJ

Barb, I was reading your post and it's horrible that your Doctor is moving. You should have gotten something in the mail to all the patients. Now, it looks like you've lost 60 pounds in your 12 weeks. That's GREAT!!! It took me every bit of three months to hit that. CONGRATULATIONS! Hannah

Topic: RE: 14 weeks today and down 133 lbs. Too fast???????????
Hi Sharon, Wow 133 lbs...that is ALOT!!! I am not worried about me...as I have lost -48 lbs in 3 1/2 months. I am worried about my husband. He has lost 100 lbs in 4 months. He just 2 weeks ago went in for emergency gallbladder removal. He looks great...but not healthy. He only has about 40 lbs more to go before he reaches his personal goal of 200. I am worried about him. He really hardly eats anything...just drinks water all day long. I am the opposite. I eat all day long and hardly drink any water. Did your Dr. do blood work? My husband doesnt see the Dr. for another 2 months...When they will probably do blood work on him to just make sure everything is okay. Good luck to you and God Bless!!! Cherish-Louisiana

Topic: RE: Dry Skin ?
I read that the fats in olives and nuts were good for your skin and easily absorbed. One of the reasons for dry skin after wls is that fats are malabsorbed because of the length of small intestine that is bypassed. I started snacking on mixed nuts and it seemed to help my dry skin problem. Hope this helps.

Congratulations on your weight loss. 57 pounds in 3 months--WhoooHoo!! I read somewhere that the fats in olives and nuts were good for your skin so I started snacking on mixed nuts and have seen an improvement in my dry skin. Have not noticed any hair loss yet. My hair is so thin anyway that if it does start coming out I will need to buy a wig. I am keeping it cut short so it is easier to poof it out. God bless your journey.

What a bummer! Doctor's office staff can be so inconsiderate when it comes to notifing patients about changes. Sounds like your weight loss is right on target. Good luck in finding another surgeon to do follow-up care if your current one moves out of your driving area. I don't envy you driving around in DC traffic at all to chase down your physician. I am not a city person and when I do venture into DC I drive to Vienna and take the metro for an occasional visit to the Smithsonian or the zoo.
