Topic: Hair Loss Advice
Hey June Bugs!
I too am losing some of my hair. It isn't too thin yet, but it's getting there. I asked my nutritionist about it and she suggested I take 50 mg of zinc per day in addition to my regular daily vitamin...as well as making sure I get in 60-80 protein per day. I'm going to try it and see how I do. Good luck to you all...I may have really short hair soon...wouldn't be the first time!

Topic: RE: my hair is REALLY falling out
My surgery was June 8 and I also am really losing my hair. Clumps are pulled from the drain every time I wash my hair. I guess a good thing is that I only wa**** every 3 days now because it doesn't have the oil it used to. The bad thing is that my support group and surgeon said nothing I've tried will help: Nioxin, Rogaine, hair/nail pills, upping the protein, etc. Meanwhile, my scalp gets more and more obvious. In fact, I just went and purchased a natural hair wig and will have my hairdresser color, highlight, and cut it to match my hair. UGH!

Topic: RE: Feeling Better and Better
I had problems very similar to yours. I had nausea and dry heaves that were relentless. I was one miserable person. They finally found out after two trips back to the hospital that I had an ulcer and sinus drainage. Once I was treated for that, I got much better. Now, I am eating and I feel much better. Once I was able to keep some vitamins down, I felt better also.
Topic: RE: 3 month update
I know how you feel, Victoria. I too am three months out and have lost 63 pounds (just weighed myself this morning and was down 6 pounds from last week). The surgeon, Dr. Foote, saved my life. My knees and back feel better, I have energy (sometimes too much) and I feel so much better. So many of my health problems have been resolved. I let everyone know I had the surgery, because I am not ashamed I took charge of my life. Good for you and your success. Keep it up.

Jami,
You are doing great. Yes, you have lost a lot, but, my doctor says, the bigger patients lose more faster. You know, as well, that everyone here says to make the most of your first 6 months. You are taking everyone's advice. I am 2 weeks behind you (06/28/04) and I am at 70lbs. That is according to my scale at work. I go tomorrow for my 3 month check up and it might be more who knows.
So I say keep on rocking girl and don't beat yourself up because you are ahead of most of us!!

Topic: Thanks to everyone!!!!
Thanks everyone for your support with my hair. I truly love this group of people. I know I haven't been around much lately, but I do check in from time to time to see how everyone is. This is my very busy season (everyone wants their homes completely redone by the holidays.) I generally get to come up for air on Christmas Eve, assuming I'm not helping a client get ready for a party that night. Since Chris and I are taking the cruise in November, I really have to get ahead.
I am going to try the shampoo for my hair, so maybe I'll get some new growth sooner. I've been religious about vitamins and protein, so it shouldn't be that. I had blood work done last week, because of extreme fatique. Those results will be in tomorrow maybe. We'll see how my levels are.
I am so appreciative of everyone here, and I cannot wait to see as many of you as possible on October 9.
Thank you all!
-Paige
