Topic: Hello, I'm new to this si...
Hello, I'm new to this site, I think I may have written once before but who can remember I had Lap RNY June 11, 2004, starting weight 314 todays weight 245, total loss 69 lbs. I have had a bit of hair thinning but not too much yet!!! I cut my long hair off to a new very short do before surgery so maybe I don't notice it as much. Walk 4 days a week, weight lift and have exercise bike. Still feel tired alot tho and am surprised at this, also my tastebuds are so weird at times I don't eat very much in the meat dept. just don't like texture, anyone else have this going on? I like strange things like spam fried really crisp or bacon which both of these were never on my radar before. I'd love to hear from anyone that has time to write. Connie

Topic: RE: Turkey Day Mini Goal
If I remember correctly, I wanted to be at 200 or199. I am 17 and 18 away from that right now. I have been on a stall for the last 3 weeks, so I have some work to do. Hopefully the jpound will start falling off again and soon! Last month I lost 19.5 lbs. I am more than half way to my goal.

I'm so excited! Tuesday I weighed at support class and I'm down 101.3 pounds since 6/29! That makes me half way there. I'm on the downhill slide!

Topic: RE: painful gas and intestinal crampig
I feel your pain!!! My Dr. said that an enama will help with that....it did. Also Phillips M.O.M. worked great!! Add a bit more fruit, and veggies to your diet and maybe cut down on the cheese for a bit. I also found out that when I drink decaf. coffee I seem to stay more reg. I'm not sure why....maybe cuz it is warm and loosens things up. Hope you get some relief fast....you might even want to call your surgeon. LeAnn

Topic: RE: New to June Site
Well hello Barbara !! My surgery was June 1st, also.. Isn't it great to be on the losing side for a change !! It is the most successful thing I have done for myself in a long time.. I would do the surgery again in a heartbeat.. It is such a big decision for us to make and scary too !! I have to continue to tell myself to be careful... I don't want to over indulge and put the wt' back on... NOT THIS TIME !! I like my life so much more.. Isn't it nice to just pick something up off the floor without "thinking" about it ??? Take care and keep us posted.. Joanne

Topic: RE: I've hit a Plateau
Hi Jacquie, I have hit many plateaus.... They do go away, but in the meantime they are frustrating !! I have been told it happens and 5-10 lbs. a month is all I am going to lose now, and this is also true !! I started out at 292lbs. now I'm down to 202 but it's taken me 6 mos. to do it.. My Lap RNY was performed on June 1st.. I put on a lb. and then it comes off, after awhile I lose another lb. or two.. I do think increasing my water intake helps me. Everyone is different. After a while we get to know our own bodies, it's all such a learning process.. As much as we are alike, we are also different !! So, hang in there, we are all in the same boat... Congradulations on your success so far.. It is sure a great feeling for me. This is the most wt. I have ever lost in my whole life !! Joanne

I've been having a lot of intestinal cramping and hard stools, are we allowed to take a mild laxative to help things get moving and if so any suggestions on a safe one?
