Isn't amazing to fit in one? Preop, I always went into the handicap stall, so my hips wouldn't touch the sides of the regular stall! amazing the little things that are so wonderful! Haze RNY 6/10/04

Sounds great! I had the surgery on June 14, 2004 and have lost 116 pounds so far. It was a chilly day here today in south Texas and leaving work on my way to the gym I ran to my car. Before the surgery I could barely walk to the car and now I can run. So I understand what you said about wanting to walk for fun, because it IS fun now. Keep up the great work! Terry 276/160/130?

I had my 6-month post-op visit today. I am officially down 76 pounds to date. Doctor was very pleased with my progress. He said I could expect my loss to slow down a bit during the next 6 months and estimated that I might possibly lose another 40 pounds by my first year anniversary. I think his estimate is too conservative. My next personal goal is to get under 200 pounds by Easter (March 27). My long term goal is to be a normal weight by December 31. On my way to the doctor's office, which is a 1 1/2 hour drive, we stopped at a rest area and I actually fit into a restroom stall with room to spare that before had been a tight squeze. 310/234/122

depending how far overweight you were and for how long it may take surgery to get rid of the gut... after so long our muscles stretch out and makes it impossible to tighten up that area. In fact where I went for surgery said he use to say exercise is all you need but that is a lie and he will no longer give out that faulse information. Patti in Montague

I was told by my surgeon plastic surgery should not be done until I am about 2 years out.....To make sure I have lost all the weight I can lose. It seems so far out and things are sagging now. I wonder how I will survive that long. Good luck with your insurance....I will be rooting for ya! Debbie

Topic: tummy questions
Hi all, this is my first time posting here.. I just wanted to check in and see what all of my fellow June WLS patients are doing in regards to ab/oblique exercises (Haha, 6 months ago I wouldn't know what those terms meant!).. I was so excited to find that I fit into a size 12 jeans(down from a 22/24), but the top half is still stuck anywhere from a 14/16-18/20. Things fit just fine around the top, but the gut is getting to be a problem. I do crunches and an ab roller, 1 hr on an elliptical machine 6 days a week, plus random 2 mile walks. Any suggestions/comments for what else I can do to flatten this tummy of mine? Any help would be appreciated! -Emma

This is typical. Mostly Cheese & meat. I enjoy it though & I never feel deprived. I eat 6-8 mini meals almost like snacks every couple hours rather than larger meals. It works better for me. I also dont eat anything after 7pm. Instead I prepare my meals & menu for the next day. That way I'm not hanging out in the kitchen being tempted several times a day. I track it all on Fitday.com Today's Foods Food Name Serving Size Cals/Fat/Carb/Prot LAND O LAKES CHEDDAR square serving 80/7/0/5 Tuna, canned, water pack half can 97/1/0/21 KRAFT MIRACLE WHIP LIGHT Dressing 2 tablespoon 55/4/3/0 Egg, deviled large egg 125/10/1/7 Crackers/onion flavor 5 crackers serving 80/3/10/1 monterey jack stick serving 110/8/0/7 Cheddar cheese stick serving 110/9/0/7 Tyson Chicken Breast 1/3 breast serving 63/0/1/14 Kraft Shredded Parmesan Cheese 1/4 cup 110/8/1/9 Light String Cheese serving 60/3/1/9 Totals for day Cal=890 fat=53 carb=16 Prot=80 Good Luck! Hi Nicole, I notice that the weeks I watch my carb intake are my bigger loss weeks. But how do you stay under 20 carbs per day?? Can you post a sample day's menu for me? Thanks, BJ
