What is your daily regimen for VITAMINS and EXERCISE?
Hi Junebugs . . . in an effort to keep conversation going on this message board . . . and also because I desperately need some ideas of what others are going at this stage of the post-op game (my WLS nutritionist is worthless unfortunately):
1) What vitamins are you taking on a daily basis, and WHEN are you taking them?
2) How much are you exercising and WHAT are you doing exactly?
It is hotter than HADES here in Maryland this summer. There is NO WAY I would have lasted at last summer's weight this year -- wouldn't have been able to breathe or move at all. I am so thankful for this WLS journey!

300/165/150??? and scheduled for a PS consult later this month woohoo!!
Hey Barb,
I was down your way a few weeks ago...hubby had a job and I went for the ride! I do optisource vitamins (4x day), just changed to calcuim citrate 1500 mg a day and I do 2 flinstones vites for extra what ever. I do my B-12 everyother day. My exercise varies....I do biking, gym (treadmill, bike, crosstrainer, etc) for about 45 minutes 3 x week then follow up with weights for arms and legs. I stay at the gym a long time...don't have kids to worry about!
Good luck on PS consult. Please post your findings. One day I will be ready for that!
Debbie
Thanks Debbie for the info . . . do you have any info on what vites/supplements NOT to take together? I am trying to remember what my surgeon said about spacing things apart but my mind is drawing a blank, and I won't be seeing him again for a few weeks. I definitely need to get back on track so my bloodwork turns out good enough to pursue the PS I'm hoping for . . .
Next time you're in my area drop me a line -- I live right beside the Bay Bridge on the Chesapeake Bay!
My mom lives in southern DE and we have been thinking about relocating to Wilmington in the next couple of years to be a bit closer to her. But not too close LOL.

300/165/150???
Hi Barbara,
I've had a problem with anemia (not especially related to the wls, but secondary to gyn problems).
So, I'm taking iron 3x day. I also take a Vit C with it because it is supposed to help with absorption. Also I take calcium citrate and MVI 2x day.
As for spacing, the iron can't be taken at the same time as the calcium . It's supposed to be 1 hr before or 1 1/2 hrs after taking calcium. The same rule is applicable for food - because iron is supposed to be taken on an empty stomach.
I'm not going to the gym as regularly as I should. When I go - it's 30 min on the elliptical, 30 min on the treadmill.
1) What vitamins are you taking on a daily basis, and WHEN are you taking them?
Are you ready for this?
First thing in the morning - B12 sublingual (and my synthroid - for subclinical hypothyroidism)
About an hour later with breakfast:
Multivitamin (just switched from VistaVitamins to Centrum - will check my labs in 6 months to see if the cheaper option works as well)
Vitamin E
Selenium
Vitamin C
Mid-morning:
Liquid Calcium with Magnesium and Vitamin D ~ 600mg
Mid-afternoon:
Liquid Calcium with Magnesium and Vitamin D ~ 600mg
Evening with dinner:
Multivitamin
Vitamin A
Zinc
B-100 complex
About an hour later:
Iron (prescribed for iron deficiency)
Vitamin C
Plus, my monthly B12 shot.
Check out these two documents on my website. Very informative about vitamins! Including interactions. One I know for sure is that calcium (and zinc) will hinder the absorption of iron, while Vitamin C helps it.
Anyway, a lot more info here:

2) How much are you exercising and WHAT are you doing exactly?
I've been AWFUL about exercise... AWFUL!!! I've just now started again, and I REALLY want to make it a part of my daily life. I do the stationary bike for 25-30 minutes, abs and leg exercises, and some weight training focusing on arms. I got some very interesting insight from a discussion on the main board... if you care to check it out, it's here:

Third or fourth reply down... ref. muscle tissue... very eye opening!
OK, enough from me!

I take OnceSource Prenatals 2 after breakfast, 2 calcuim with my mid morning snack, 1 iron just when I think of it, 2 calcuim at night before bed. That is about it for me.
I walk on my treadmill 5 days a week and do some weight training. I just now got to where I like to run a little.
