A little discouraged
Barbara,
I'm feeling the same. My surgery was on June 8 and I have only lost 43 pounds. I expected an initial loss of at least 20 pounds/month. But I too have been seeing changes in my clothing sizes. In jeans I went from a 32 to 26, in dresses I went from 28 to 22, in slacks a 30 to 24 and shirts a 28 to 22. So, I guess we need to be patient, but I expected to see better results on the scale with as little as I am eating.

Barbara and Joan....
Don't be too upset. Each of us lose weight at our own pace. Ask your self ...Am I getting in my water, how about portein? Do I need to get a little more walking in? You would be surprised if you just up these things what it will do....I too was discouraged when I wasn't dropping the weight like I thought I should be. Also remember some of us start out weighing more than others, so it seems to come off a little faster for them.
Don't give up....God gave us this tool now we must work with it. WE CAN ALL DO IT.....Good Luck.

Barbara, Joan,
remember what you were told when you started this journey?? It's "let's not compare our loss to others" ! I always read these posts about people losing double the weight that I've managed to lose, and it's bugged me at first, but I've been ASSURED by my physician that I am right on target. I made my half century mark today, and I've got at least another 100 more to go. As long as I see the pounds coming off, I'm happy and content. Trust me, you're doing fine. One thing I must say, I do not have all the saggy skin some others have, seems like mine is snapping back relatively well because it has time to adjust
The higher the BMI, the faster they lose it, eventually we all even out in the long run.
We're doing just fine, girls!!

Barbara You are okay, I know you feel discouraged, as i do at times. I also went from a 22 to an 18.. and i lost 65lbs.. so your doing better then me. I know its hard, and its hard for me to take my own advice, but we have to be patient, and trust that we will do our own thing, in our own time! .. look on the bright side, if you call it a bright side,, because we are losing slower, our skin won't be asssssssss saggy as it could be. right?? please say im right! (smile)
Barbars, YES,YES,YES !! I know we're not suppose to weight ourselfs alot , but, I do and I get really discouraged when I don't see numbers going down as quickly as I wish they would. I have not lost a pound in 2 weeks. BUT I have lost inches!!!! I went recently from an 18 to starting to fit into 16's. I think we level off and stablize than loose again... than stablize again. I think thats how it works!!
Anyhow 50lbs is really nothing to sneeze at you know!!! That's about what I've lost too. 55 for me. my surgery was 6/8/04 . SO instead of getting upset about not loosing quicker we should give ourself's ahand for the 50 lbs. we've lost forever!!!!
so here's to us..
GOOD JOB!!!!!~MARY
Hi Barbara,
I read your post and boy did it ring bells! I kept thinking, I AM that person. Are we ever real pleased with ourselves? I don't really think so. Here's my example...I was going gangbusters and lost 60 pounds by my 3 month mark, then the scale refused to move.
Being the scale ***** that I am, I just about had a stroke for the last 2 weeks. Well, just when I thought I was going to drown myself in a sinkful of protein, The scale moved 4 pounds! All in one day! Go figure. I like to think maybe the body decides to stay at a certain weight for a little while to catch up and recover from the shock of all that losing. Hang in there, we will all lose the weight.

I too get a little discouraged at times. I have only lost about 55 pounds and see others who lose up too 100. I do not drink enough water that I do know. So maybe your intake of water is a bit low. Keep smiling because you have lost 50 pounds in just 3 months. Thats nothing but a miracle still in my eyes. Keep your chin up.
