Hi Junebugs, I just found this part of the site. So I'm down 56 lbs and all the bloodwork and blood pressures etc are good, but the doc says I'll only lose down to just under 200....RUDE. He said 6-700 calories a day and 90-110 gms of protien. Does this agree with what your nutritionists say? Lois

Hi Lois, How does he know how much you will lose? Good job on the 56 pound loss.

Heck no! I really don't know how you are going to get in that much protien with that little bit of calories! Girl you may want to contact your nutritionist or dietician...just as a second opinion. And don't worry about your weight loss. 56lbs is great at only 3 mos. You are in control and exercise makes a big different. I loose 2x as much on the weeks I exercise 3 or more times than the weeks i dont. Carmen LAP RNY 6/2/04 293/234/175?

It's not possible to get 110gms of protein on 600 calories per day! There are 4 calories per gm of protein so that would be 440 calories out of 600, which in my opinion isn't very prudent! Sounds like your Doc might have been justing spouting off some numbers. Mine told me 80gms of protein per day & 1200 calories total...he said I would be healthy & still be losing fat(instead of muscle).... If you drink Unjury Chocolate with water, it's 90 calories and 20 grams of protien. I guess you could do it that way. That's a lot of protein though. Hannah

The predicted range for weight loss after gastric bypass is 15%-51% of weight loss desired, with 33% as the average. So let's say you need to lose a total of 150lbs, your predicted weight loss at 3 months could range between these values: 15%= 22.5 lbs 33%= 45 lbs (average) 51%= 76.5 lbs Does that help? RK

The info came from Barix treatment centers literature. These are the parameters listed: 6 weeks = average 20% (range 10-30%) 3 months = average 33% (range 15-51%) 12 months = average 67% (range 36-99%) Monthly predictions weren't listed. I hope that helps, Regina
