I really feel like a pile of dung. I am 4 1/2 weeks out and I have NEVER felt this bad in my life. I am weak, light-headed and just all around miserable. I am naseous when I eat and when I don't eat. I can't eat much either. Am I all alone??? Help...does it really get better?

I am 7 weeks post op and I still feel tired. Yesterday I worked around the outside of my house. Pull weeds, wash the stains on my house and then took a nap for an hour. I don't feel like eating but I have a feeling your blood sugars might be low. Give them a check and tell your doctor. Take care Kathy

I still get tired easily but I feel a little stronger each day. Most of the time sucking on sugar free peppermints or having a cup of hot tea will settle my stomach. Make sure you are eating often enough to keep your blood sugar at a normal level and if the light-headedness continues, call your doctor.

I'm 5 weeks out and I still tire easily, but I do have more endurance than before surgery. I got my check up yesterday and was reminded I had major surgery. I was told to pace myself. I was also told I was not getting enough water. My pouch hurts/uncomfortable most of the time, eating or not (actually feels better empty). But I have a UTI from not drinking enough water, ( the dizzyness/lighthead is from not getting enough water) so today I am trying to get in the water, I was told I would feel better and some people just have a more sensitive pouch or it takes longer for it to heal. Please discuss your feelings with your doc. I was told to eat a few bites of protien at least twice a day. I can't do much so I'm going to just eat some cheese cubes and see if my pouch gets to feeling better. The post-pos that are further out than us say it does get better. My daughter had wls 2 years ago and she is doing great, eats what she wants and looks and feels great. So there is hope.

Count me in as one of the tired ones! The week before last I couldn't remember what tired was...maybe I overdid it because this week I am back to no energy and just keeping the house picked up is all I can manage. I want to work outside but can't seem to get up and go. I just keep reminding myself that everyone says it gets better. Getting my protein, drinking water, walked once this week and hope to make myself walk tonight. mj

HI. I did hear from someone that the most exhausting time is between 4-8 weeks post-op. I went from walking several times a day to barely once a day. We are probably so malnourished! Guess we need to up the water and protein. Hang in there! Lisa

I guess I'm one of the lucky ones. I am not tired at all, but seem to have loads of energy. I have noticed an increase since I started taking B-12, iron, and b-6. I was low on them and the dr. started me on them at my 1 month check up. I also feel better when I get in 70g of protein and even 80g is better.

Yesterday after reading everyones post I got to thinking that I had forgotten to take my B12 the day before and had been taking it at night for the last few days. Soooo I took one 500mcg at noon and one at 5 and actually felt better. Maybe it was all in my head but either way I felt better. I walked for 25 minutes and gardened for 30. Today I am dressed which is more than I could say by this time yesterday. Just a thought. mj

Marsha, You are definitely not alone. I have had nausea and dry heaves for 3 weeks now. I ended up dehydrated and was placed back in the hospital for 6 days. I had an endoscopy while there and found to have 3-4 small ulcers in my pouch. I am on meds for the ulcers and we tried everything my surgeon could think of to aleviate the nausea, but nothing completely took it away. I have at home phenergan, compazine, a patch I wear behind my ear, and a couple of other tablets to get rid of the nausea. I'll admit, I am a tad better, but the nausea still lerks in the background. I was also send home on IV tube feedings. My vitamins and antiobiotics are put in this IV. I'm not sure how long this will last. They say until I start eating and drinking on my own. I have been able to eat some now, but the drinking is still very difficult. No girl - you are not alone. There are others out here suffering right along. I do hope you get better soon.

I also tire easily. I am dizzy, light headed and sometimes downright faint.. I am sure I am not getting all the protine I need. I can't do the shakes anymore, they trigger my gag reflex right away. I am in the pureed stage but... can you say yuck.. I do eat some soft protiens but... I felt good thru weeks 2-3 but this week... whew, I am glad to just drag myself thru my work day and float around in the pool with the kids.. I know it gets better, just have to try to push more protiens.. Good luck girls, we can do this.. Korianne 305/255/150 -50 lbs
