I'm 50 pounds down and had surgery 6/29. My doctor's office called and said my prealbumin was way low to boost my protein. I'm having a hard time because I can eat so very little. I tried to add protein powder to soup and pudding and broke out in hives. I can eat sliced cheese, but only about 3/4 oz. Milk is ok mixed with Carnation Instant Breakfast but I can't drink it alone. I can eat tuna but only about 2 or 3 bites. How do I get more protein in when protein is all I'm eating right now and it isn't enough??

Hi Krista, I start my day usually with a shake made of 1 cup 1% milk, 1 scoop of Protein Designer Whey Powder and 1 package of Sugar Free Carnation Instant Breakfast. On some mornings I throw in a couple of ice cubes into the blender. This gives me 30 grams of protein, I'm 1/2 way there with my protein intake for the day. I also recommend http://www.fitday.com to help you track your daily intake of protein & calories. After using this site, I realized that I was only getting 650 - 700 calories a day and wasn't loosing weight. Once I increased my calories between 800 - 1000 I actually started losing a few pounds. Best of luck to you! Terri

Double milk: 1 cup milk + 1/3 cup powdered nonfat dry milk. Doubles your protein. You can also add it to mashed potatoes, soup, and even your protein shakes. I add a little vanilla extract and 1 or 2 tsp. splenda to my double milk. Makes a nice drinking dessert.

I would suggest bariatriceating.com They sell many different types of protein, both liquid and powder. I, too was having problems getting protein in, then I found this site. I have only tried one powder--the Proplete Gold, but it is great!!! They have a wide choice of flavors. I too was trying to get protein from instant breakfast, and it just wasn't working. I found that the proplete goes down much easier and faster than instant breakfast too. Hope this helps a little, and good luck. Sue
