I'm sorry you are haveing a difficult time. I know that it can take some a bit longer time fore their bodies to adjust to the surgery. Have you tried different types of soup. I know the plain broth did well with me, while the cream soups just didn't feel very good. I am 9 days out and am only just begining to feel like getting out a bit. I am not going to pu**** I am soar from haveing open rny and feel that my body needs some healing time. As of this morning I have lost 10 lbs. prettty good I think. You will lose, you can't not lose on what we are or should I say aren't eating. Don't be to hard on yourself. Good luck.

Don't be too hard on yourself. I am on the same stage as you. Cream soups stink!!! Try Chinese wonton soup or onion soup. It will make you feel as if you are having something decent but will go down well. I went out today for Father's Day and the onion soup was my godsend and I did not feel left out. Before my surgery, I was a big daily walker but I have also been having trouble and get very winded fast. Be kind to yourself and don't ru**** (I am talking to myself as much as you). Another thing that has been helping me is premade "Low Carb" Slim Fast. They taste pretty good and have been going down well for me. They sell them at Target in the SlimFast-diet section. I was afraid to cough and still am because it hurt so much. Take care of yourself and I will send you positive thoughts!

I didnt care for the coughing either until I had a big sneeze on Day 5, I thought I was gonna die, it hurt so bad. I am just glad my allergies were under control. Now, I have no problems with either one. Amy

Hi Beverley I had surgery one day before you did. My biggest fear is also that I will put on weight. My husband also thinks that it is funny. Well I was all depressed yesterday and today because I thought I had gained 2 pounds. Well I had to prove it to my husband that this diet can fail me so I got back on the scales today and lo and behold I had misread the marks. I had lost 3 instead of gaining 2. I too have been walking about 1/2 mile a day sometimes every other day, but as long as I am moving I think that is what matters. Remember, Rome was not built in a day. Good luck Peggye

I had my surgery the day before yours. I had my check up with my surgeon today and told him I am lucky if I can eat 300-400 calories a day. I said not to worry know that I am on the pureed stage that I will be able to get in more nutrition and protein. Surgery made me very Lactose intollerant (it sucks) I love milk, cheese, cottage cheese and any dairy. But Dr. said I might grow out of it. The best thing that I found for the liquid stage actually was Chinese Egg Drop soup with NO vegetables. You get quite a bit of protein and it is very satisfing. Other than that I had fat free sugar free pudding wich is satisfying, Take vegetable or chicken noodle soup and prepare as normal then drain off the broth, I found these to be good as well. About a week ago I actually had the chicken noodle with the noodles chewing them VERY VERY small and that seemed to stay very well. I have not been able to get out and walk much at all as I am still trying to catch my breath back. I had 2 major surgeries with in 9 days so my lungs are taking longer to get back to normal. I had Back surgery on May 24th and my By-pass surgery on June 2. Today is the first time that I have felt good. Things will get better and you will lose weight. I have lost 23 pounds since June 2nd. Best of luck and many prayers your way. Tom
