Needles!

I am absolutely terrified of needles. I cannot believe I'm even going through with this surgery. Out of the entire ordeal, the thing that scares me the most is getting the IV, and the shots in my stomach after surgery (to prevent blood clots). Does anyone know if there is anything else I should expect? Other than the regular bloodwork, of course - that doesn't bother me anymore. - JJ

Needles in stomach???? I have not heard anythig about this. Is it only certain doctors? ~Amanda

My doctor told me that I will be getting two needles a day in my stomach. He said it is to prevent blood clots. I just posted on the "April" message board and asked about the needle situation. I guess it's not going to be as bad as I thought. I'm still terrified though - JJ

I am going to ask about it at my pre op. i heard about pills to help prevent Blood clots but never needles. kinda scares me too hehe but thx for telling me. i dont wanna end up in bed and a doctor come in to give me shots in my stomach and me freak out. lol ~Amanda

Hey JJ, Wow you're good if the only thing you're scared of is needles. I wish that was my only concern. I have jitters about the whole process, but I'm trying not to think about all that stuff. Anyway, my surgeon will have to give me a needle in my stomach I'm told. I believe it will be something like Nexium for preventing bleeding ulcers. Kelly

I don't mind needles but my doctor, believe this of not, makes me give myself one shot 12 hours before surgery. I hate giving myself a shot. this will be the worst part of the surgery for me. I have the needle and kit already and my surgery is June 3. Now I can worry about this till then. Denise
