New to this site-have a date
Hi, everyone,
I am new to the internet, so bear with me. I have finally reached the stage where I know for me that this surgery may be the only chance for me to have a normal life. I resisted it for so long thinking I could lose the weight myself, and God knows, I tried (many times). I'm frightened but excited also. My surgery date is June 15th, 2004. I am currently waiting for insurance approval and getting all the pre-op testing done. I still need to have an EGD done and need to have a cardiac cath (I have had some chest pain and am too large for the docs to diagnose with conventional methods). I could use some support just to get through this. I also may need to get a Greenfield filter placed to decrease the chance of blood clots after surgery, and I may get it placed at the time of the cath. Anyone else have this done? Thanks . Connie
Hi Connie, I'm new to this site also. My surgery is scheduled for 1 week before yours. I received my approval over the weekend but it was bittersweet. I'm very excited of course. However, my daughter was attempting to have a breast reduction and it was denied. (we have an appeal teleconference tomorrow, Pray for the best) So although I'm happy for myself, I'm sad for her. Anyway, I haven't had any tests done yet. I'm scheduled for this friday for the EGD/w/CLO. It was funny when I scheduled it the lady stated I needed to have someone I knew take me home. Then she stated you can't take a cab. I was like ooh, I didn't know what she was talking about at first..hahahahaha I apparently was having special people issues when I spoke to her. Well I hope your tests go okay. I was reading a profile of another lady today. She had her surgery Feb 16 and by March 17 she had lost 70lbs. When I read that all I could think of was WOW. In June it will be you and I with all of the weight loss. Maybe not as much or as quickly as the lady I read about today..but our time is coming. It will be great to get out of Lane Bryant and the Womens section..hahahah Take care!!
Hi gals
I'm fairly new to this site too. I've loved reading all this stuff though and the support. I'm scared but excited about all of it. I'm sorry to hear about your daughter's breast reduction surgery being denied. Hopefully you'll can prove it is medically necessary for her to have it. I hope she's not in a lot of pain from the weight of them. I know mine cause problems sometimes.
It's amazing reading all these profiles and seeing all the before and after pictures. I look at them and wonder how long it will take me to start seeing a difference. It excites me each time I see them though because I know that will be us in a few months!!
