Topic: 4 Days and counting
My surgery is four days away....and I am looking foward to a new beginning. I am having the Band placed, laproscopically, and am lucky to have had the unwavering support from my family and friends. I can't stress enough to anyone who is considering having surgery to research, research, research!!! Talk to anyone who has had it done, to your PCP, don't take this decision lightly and be proactive. This is your health, your body and your life. It was a big and serious decision for me to chose to undergo gastric surgery when I am and I do not regret my decision. This site has been extremely helpful in finding information and support. 6/10/03 will be my new birthday!!

Hi, Jennifer. My surgery's Monday, too. I can hardly wait. I'm pretty calm, too. My only concern now is that the hospital didn't call to schedule my History & Physical and blood gases till this morning! So I know I'll have to go in quite early and have them done before the surgery and hope like hell nothing's wrong. I think if I get postponed, I'm gonna be pretty dang depressed. Wishing you the best as we move to what's been termed, "The Losing Side." 
Topic: 5 days away from my new beginning
I am so excited that my date is getting closer. June 10 is my big day. I must confess I'm scared, anxious but very excited. Was talking to some friends of mine today on this very thing. My surgeon is Dr. Groves in Boaz,Al and I have the upmost respect for him and trust him 100%. Thanks to so many wonderful people out there willing to share their stories. Very helpful to all of us. Thanks again and God bless each of us on this wonderful journey. Cathy Pereira

My new day is almost here!!! I have met so many wonderful people on this site. Thank you to all who have shared their stories and prayers. You all are a blessing!! My day is June 30th. Dr. Obeid is my surgeon and I have complete faith in him. Thank you Jesus!!!

I am on the 13th too at 1:30 pm. I am less nervous than when I made the decision. The only thing that gives me butterflies is when someone questions my decision (which isn't often). I go back to the success stories, to the overwhelming chances for success and, of course,: "What is my alternative if I don't have the surgery?" That's enough to bring me a some peace with my choice.
