6/23/03...Christine! I feel the same way! My surgery is on Wednesday and I am so excited, but very scared! I don't think I can sleep tonight or tomorrow night! I am going to go out today and buy me a new robe to wear at the hospital. I also bought some bottles of my favorite shampoo and conditioner and lotion for my stay (Avada), that made me feel better. I have a new nightgown someone gave me too!!

6/23/03....Yes my day is just "10" days away....I finally was able to get more sleep this morning I woke up at 6:58 am instead of 4 am..........I just don't know what to do with myself,I find it difficult to focus on any one thing...........Christine

Same with me. That's one thing I did not plan on after the surgery (10 days ago (0pen RNY) was being short of breath. Itl's not that I didn't have the lung capacity; I was just favoring my chest and didn't want to take deep breaths. If you do the exercises and walk at an increasinly faster pace it might help. It helped me anyway; my breathing is just about normal now. Your doctor might say something different. Renee

Topic: 2 Weeks Post-Op / 27 lbs GONE!!!
I had my surgery on June 9, 2003. I'm excited about the weight lost and how I'm staring to recognize the me I use to know years ago. I do want to know if anyone is having problems in staring to eat soft foods like grits? I tried to eat some today because my doctor told me to start on my soft foods today and I experienced severe stomach cramps. I'm afraid to try to put anything else soft in my stomach. Any suggestions.

Hi Leigh. I too have just seven days left. I am having an open RNY on Friday the 27th. I am happy, nervous, a little scared, anxious and feel like I am on the biggest roller coaster ride of my life. My prayers are with you, your family and your surgeon. I pray God will guide our sugeon's hands as together they start both of us on our new life journey.

I had that problem after surgery last week. The nurse made me take deep breaths 10 times every hour then cough... It hurt at first but after I coughed up the congestion it got better. It is still a little short and I try to breath deeply and it starts to open up...... I am no doctor so I can't speak for them but it has made a difference for me. Hope it helps.......karon

HI LISA, CONGRATS ON YOUR SURGERY!!!!!!!!! I AM HAVING MY SURGERY TUES. THE 24TH AND I AM ALSO HAVING IT OPEN, HE IS GOIN THROUGH A OLD SCAR FROM GALLBADDER 21YRS AGO I HOPE MINE DOES THAT GREAT, WAS YOUR PAIN VERY BAD WITH OPENED? AGAIN GOD BLESS YOU

Good Luck to you on your surgery date and hope eveything goes fine. I had ine 3 wks ago. Doing fine except for shortness of breath. I will pray that you will do just great.
