Topic: RE: 2 Weeks Post-Op / 27 lbs GONE!!!
Hi I am one week post -op and have not started on soft foods yet. But every thing I read did not classify Grits and soft food. Cream of Wheat is classified as soft. Try putting the grits in a blender first it they may be easier to digest. karon

Topic: Update after My First Post-Op Followup Visit
SO excited and pleased with my first followup visit this morning. Had my staples removed from the five lap incisions (not at all painful). Down 14 pounds since my surgery! That was really surprising. Started today on pureed foods and I am thrilled at that and promptly came home and made my lunch: pureed tuna with a little bit of lite mayo & dill pickle thrown in to moisten it, and pureed green beans. After little more than a week on nothing but liquids it tasted delicious!!! Got the written approval to return to work on July 14th without restrictions, which will be 4 wks from surgery. My next followup visit with Dr. O'Malley is scheduled for 5 weeks, July 23rd. Feeling really great and ready for a nap now after all this excitement I've worn myself out *laughs*.

Topic: one week post-op
well ... one week out, and I'm having a problem tolerating protein drinks (especially chocolate) and other foods, and nausea consumes me about 75% of the time ... my surgeon's nurse said that with laparoscopic RNY, they usually fill you with carbon dioxide (or something like that), and it might take a while to work out ... so hopefully that' all it is and this intolerance will end. The chewable vitamins I've tried (Flintstones and Centrum) leave a horrible metallic taste in my my for hours, so I'm looking for something else to try too.

Marianne ... that is excellent ... congrats!! I'm 7 days out and can barely tolerate my protein drink and about 75% of my day is consumed with nausea. Any recommendations? I'm hoping it will get better ... great weight loss too!!
