Topic: The Other Side
Well, I was so scared!! I am now 3 day's post-op. I am weak but going up and down my stairs. I am trying to drink all of my water remembering to sip. I had no complications and am only sore now. I am craving food however, and I hope that is normal. I had a dream that I found a big basket of chocolate bunnies and ate them all!! Other than the cravings, I am doing well. I want to go to wal-mart and walk around tomorrow. I will be on a liquid diet for a week and then move to soft foods! I can't wait!! I am having trouble posting my update to my profile page, does anyone out there know how? I can't seem to do it and I want to update it. Thanks, Stephanie

I NEED HELP FROM ALL OF YOU GUYS. I WAS APPROVED FOR THE DS AND AFTER WAITING FIVE MONTHS, I RECEIVED A CALL FROM MY SURGEONS NURSE TELLING ME THAT I WAS DENIED. THE FUNNY THING IS THAT NONODY WILL SAY, "WHY"? I WAS NOT GIVEN A REASON. I WOULD HAVE NO PROBLEM ACCEPTING THEIR DECISION IF IT WAS A HEALTH ISSUE BUT MY HEALTH IS GOOD;NO DIABETES, NO HYPERTENSION,ETC. I HAVE A FEELING THAT IT MIGHT BE MY INSURANCE, BUT IF THEY SAID THAT, IT WOULD BE DISCRIMINATION BECAUSE I HAD ALREADY BEEN APPROVED ON 11/19/02 AND THEN DENIED FOR UNKNOWN REASONS ON OR ABOUT 03/24/03. YES, IT ALL SOUNDS SUSPICIOUS. I HAVE MEDICAID IN THE STATE OF ILLINOIS AND IF ANYONE CAN HELP ME PLEASE EMAIL ME AT [email protected]. I HAVE BEEN TO DUKE DIET AND FITNESS CENTER TWICE AND I PLAN TO RETURN TO KEEP AS HEALTHY AS I POSSIBLY CAN BUT I NEED THE SURGERY. HELP!

Way to go Yvonne! Isn't God wonderful!! to give the doctors the knowledge and skills to do this marvelous surgery! I'm so happy for you and will continue to prayer for your continuous recovery! I go July 2, so am excited! Cammie

I had surgery 3 days ago and I'm already home. I'm tired and feel like my life is just shakes and meds but it will all change.
Remember to be your best advocate in the hospitial stay! If you need something, keep buzzing till you get it. I found it helpful to walk to floors finding out who else was in for the same procedure and we'd walk together.

Hi all,
I had my surgery Dec.9th of 2002 and am down 120lbs and it feels great. I wish all of you the luck in the world. This is not an easy choice to make but I know for me it was the best one. Even with some minor problems I would do it again.

Im out 17 day today( june 2602) I also am doing great. ot as much weight loss as you. I have lost 37lbs. I am on strict liquid shakes still. I think thats the key....My Dr. wanted the surgery site to hel before I cantake solids. No sickness whatsoever!!!!! keep up the good work....COurtney
