Topic: I made it to the other side!!!!
Hi everyone, I want to thank everyone for there support. I am 4 weeks out I have lost 36 lbs. I am starting to feel like my old self finally. I had open lap so the recovery has been slow. I am walking at least three times a week but after that walk I feel like a nap I get tied very easy I can't wait till that feeling gose away. I am starting to try different foods I just can't stand the taste of those shakes. Going to the nutrian this week I hope that will help me better understand what I can and can not eat. I find that the hardest part . I dumped once and I don't want to do that again. everyone keep up the good work. I will up date soon.

Had my surgery on June 30th and all is well! Feeling pretty good. Surgery was performed at Saints Memorial in Lowell, by Dr. Michael Jiser. He is awesome and so is his staff. I would highly recommend the surgery and Dr. Jiser.

You don't mention how much you are drinking. Drinking lots of water/fluids should thin down the mucus and may stop your problems. The more you exercise the more fluids you will need. Give this a try, hope it helps.

Topic: RE: 3 wks. 2 days and I still feel terrible - am I expecting too much?
About two and half weeks I started feeling the same way. The first week I was fine. So I went back to drinking my protein drinks one ounce every 15 minutes like they had told me too during week one. I found that I was experiencing low blood sugars from not eating, followed by dumping syndrome by eating too fast. So now I eat at least every two hours but I eat only a few bites wait five minutes and eat a few more. This has leveled out my sugar levels and the faint sick feeling is controlled. I seem to do best on cheese and crackers and add some tuna or sliced ham or turkey. I still have lots of gas and would like to know if anybody has figured out how to control that? I am just starting week 4 and hoping things keep getting better.

Topic: 17 Days Post Op - Feeling Good
I am now 17 days post op from surgery on 6/16 (Lap RNY) and down 29#s already. Yippee! It has been relatively easy -- little discomfort from surgery, just soreness and tiredness. I have been staying with a soft diet, with a few little exceptions -- haven't really measured anything, but staying to about 3 ozs. Lentil soup with a bit of shredded cheese and salt and pepper has become a good friend that is high in protein! I haven't had any problems keeping anything down and only three bouts of spitting up mucus or frothy saliva because either I ate too much or drank too soon after eating. The most frustrating part has been cooking for my family -- I just don't want to do it! Getting enough water in has also been a bit more difficult than I expected since I can't chug it like I did pre-op. Another thing is that I just don't like the protein drinks so I haven't been taking them, but trying to get enough protein in with foods. Don't know if I have been successful yet, but next follow up is July 15th.

Bless you cristy...I'm praying for your full and complete recovery. I have open rny on July 8 and as the time draws near, I'm getting more and more nervous. God directed me this far, I'm sure he'll follow me through to the other side. love to you, peggy in orlando

Well I am now one week and two days post op. I am doing fine. I am tolerating my foods well. I came home on Sunday, I stayed in the hospital 6 days because the entrance to my pouch was swollen and I could not keep foods down. Dr. Hixon gave me medicine which reduced the swelling and I started to tolerate liquids on Saturday. He monitored me for 24 hours and let me come home on Sunday. I am up and around and I feel great. I understand what all of my Amos siblings have been talking about. Being at home around food is hard, I am fighting everyday. This is going to be a battle. I just going to have to continue to pray because I knew that he bought me this far he is not going to let me go. Thank you for all of your support. ~~~~~PrettyCuteisnowaloser
