Hello Everyone, I had been without a computer for a while since I first joined. I now have a surgery date its July 15, 2003. I am on my soft liquid diet preop and one day preop full liquid. I am excited and nervous. God has blessed me with many Angels of support. I am looking forward to chatting here more especially postop during my recovery time at home. God bless all of you. Sounds good to me. I started at 262 and am at 230, this nearly six weeks out. I don't think there is a total normal. If you're doing everything you're supposed to and you feel fine, no worries, I say.

Im looking for people in my area to chat with more regularly and to compare info since we all got our surgery in the same month. Maybe at some point we can all get together.

Hey Karen, I have the foamy burps to and I have not figured out what causes it but am under the conclusion that not the speed at which you are eating the the size of the portion per mouthful...I started changing my mouth size portions and the foamy burps are a rareity now. It's worth a try.

Topic: Liquid and how to survive!
Hi everyone. I noticed that the liquids got tasteless after about the first few days and discovered that any liquid MAY work. Don't be scared to try different types of things just because there not on your list. I went the Asian route and found that Asian soups can be strained and are Extremely Tasty. If you have a Chinese Food that has Won Ton Soup then you can try that by straining it and drinking the broth and it's great and very low fat! I am just going on two weeks since my June 30th surgery and have lost aprox. 20 lbs. Anyway GoodLuck

Karen, Try drinking some warm tea before you eat. That should clear up the froth. It worked for me!

Topic: RE: fIVE WEEKS POST-OP
Congrats on the loss. I will be 3 weeks out on Monday. I get soooooooo nauseous after I eat 1-2 teaspoons of food. I am drinking 100ounces of water, but , not getting nearly enough protein in. I do drink a protein shake each day, but they make me nauseous too. I do know this will get better, but when??!!?? LOL!! I'd like to stay in touch, since we are close on surgery dates. Thanks. Take care, [email protected]

I had a great surgeron Dr. Freeman. I had abd. surgery before so there was scar tissue. He was still willing and did do the Lap on me. My surgery went fine. I have been reading a lot of messages stating they are having trouble eating a lot of the food, they are trying. I am having the same problem. Only soft food at this point agree with me. However I was told by my Dr. it would take five or six months before most foods will be tolerated. So at this point I am going to try to get my protein first and eat what I can tolerate. Small frequent bites or meals and try to be patient. I do know other people who have had this surgery and they are allmost eating all the foods they ate before, including breads and sandwiches. So hang in there if and when thier is a new food tolerated please let us all know so all of us having this problem can maybe try a new food too, it may work for us. I have lost 29lb and feeling very good about that. I know it does get better.

The next Farmington area support group will be July 30th at the Farmington Library. Time 6:30 to 8:15. There was a great turnout for the June meeting. It was fun and very helpful. Where else can you talk about bodily functions without embarassment? tee hee The Farmington Library is located at 508 Third Street. Their phone # is 651-463-7990. Please call them for directions or e-mail me with any questions. Please invite anyone you know who may be interested. I hope to see you there! Wendy
