Topic: 5 weeks & counting
I am a 5 weeks+ post op. As of last week I have lost 29 lbs. I was a little disappointed, thinking I would have lost more. My husband brought me back to reality when he said when was the last time I lost a pound a day? I guess he is right!! I do feel great! I have lost most of the nausea and vomiting. I am now able to eat a more regular diet, just limited portions. The extra energy I already feel makes me wonder think of how great it will be as the additional lbs drop off. Although this is not an easy road, it is much easier than the road I was on. I have had some days when I wasn't feeling too great, but all in all, it has been an easy transition.

I too am 5 weeks plus out, the last weigh in (30 days out) I was down 29 lbs. I am trying to only weigh in once a month, I don't want to get caught up too much with the scale. I know if we keep doing the things we are supposed to, the results will come in. Maybe the results will be different but they will all come. Good luck in your journey, stay in touch.

Ann, that is so cool!!! I'm 6 weeks post op and I've lost 39 pounds. I am just starting to have baggy pants. I haven't gone down any sizes yet, which bums me out. But I'm so happy for you!!

Topic: RE: 23 days post op and already on a two week plateau!!
I had Open RNY on 6/24/03, one week out I lost 12, the second week I lost 8, the 3rd week I lost only 1. Doc says it is from not drinking enough water, not walking. So I am struggling to get the water down and the past 2 days I have walked about a mile each day. He told me that the body goes into starvation mode and starts thriving on what it already has to sustain it, and that the water and 6 small meals daily will help. I am eating "Cracker Snackers" because they have lots of protein and salt, which makes me want to drink more. Kind of a "cause and effect"!! Good luck and I will keep you posted on how this works for me!
