I've never heard of anyone having this problem. I am in a fairly large support group and no one has every mentioned anything like this happening to anyone they know. I hope you feel better soon! Julia

Topic: RE: 6/24 Surgery & trouble eating...
Melissa, I had my surgery a few days after you on 6-27-03. I enjoy egg beater/ham/and cheese omelettes on the weekends, I can't eat much, maybe 7-8 bites with 2-3 bites of hashbrown potatoes (small bites) but it sure gives me the energy! During the weekdays, when I'm working and don't make time for breakfast, I've found that some of the power bars, luna bars, etc have low sugar products available. These make my energy level go off the charts! I also like cottage cheese and when desperate, a tablespoon of fresh ground peanut butter (no sugar added). Another thing that tastes really great is beef jerky! Just be careful on the quality of what you buy, I found that some is just too dry or stringy. The best one so far is Tillamook brand, I like the jerky bites. I like to make homemade stews and soups, this way I can reduce the added salt and fat. These are my families favorites too! Good luck! Julia

Topic: feelin great!
I hope everyone is feeling as well as I am. I have lost 3 sizes! I can't believe it. Some of the clothes that I can wear now, I haven't worn in 6 years. It is incredible how quickly the sizes changed. I haven't had any really big issues with different foods, bread is still scary. I have experimented to see if I would experience dumping from small amounts, so I took a bite of a candy bar and had no ill effects - I won't be pushing it any farther though, because I don't want to start eating that way again. My taste buds have changed dramatically, some of the things that gagged me before (like V8) I now love! Some of the things I LOVED before, now gag me (chicken). Anyway, I hope everyone feels great! Have a nice week.

Topic: Iwas wondering ?
Starting July16 i started to have a problem i had fluid bulding up on my lung. And went in the hospital for six days they drained 500 cc and sent me home then a week later it came back and then some. this time i was in the hospital 15 days they had to put a chest tube in me and drained a gallon of water off of me. I got out on the 9th of Aug. and feel ok but am worried it will come back . I wonder has this happend to any one else but me? My surgery was 6-3-03 i am 10 weeks out and lost 67 pounds.

Hi Jeffifer, Congratulations on your success so far. Your comments about Hershey Med. Center and Health America were both very encouraging to me. I am in the process of tests, etc. for WLS and I'm very excited to get this going. I hope I am lucky enough to get Dr. Cooney, he was at our group session and I was very impressed with him. I live in Palmyra, near Hershey. Take Care and I wish you continued success. Karen W.
