Topic: RE: Has anyone gained any weight back after about a One and a Half Years after surgery?
Hi guys ... glad to know I'm not the only one out there ... in between visits to my doctor (from Sept '04 to July '05 ... and the only reason I went to the doctor in July was because it was just past my 2 year mark, and I "knew" something was wrong) I gained 20 pounds!
At that point, I decided to start seeing the nutritionist again, yet that appointment was delayed due to the fact that I was bit by a neighbor's dog and spent 5 days in the hospital, and then another four days in the hospital a week and a half later.
Although I wouldn't recommend this to anyone, but I think the pain medication I was on made me lose my appetite ... and sure, I have (over the past couple months) lost that 20 pounds, but I'm having a hard time eating. At all. I have no appetite, I really think that the hospital stays have messed me up. I hadn't had any b.m.s when I was in the hospital, and I still feel like everything is all knotted up inside. It hurts to eat, it hurts not to eat. I'm hoping that by trying to force myself to eat according to my nutritionist it will clear everything up ... but it is so difficult.
I have now lost about 120 pounds (including the recent lost 20), and would like to drop about another 50-60 too ... hopefully I'll be on the right track once I can eat again (and who would have EVER thought that I wouldn't WANT to eat?) ... but I'd love any ideas for continuing weight loss at 2-years out.
Hopefully we'll come up with something. We've come too far to go back!

Topic: RE: have gained weight and don't know what to do
It's all about you! I wish I knew that little secret earlier in my life. I know now that I am a stress eater, so I have found that when that occurs I concentrate on protein---protein---proteing. It very filling..especially to gastric bypass patients and forces the body to burn fat. Weighing myselft weekly and sticking to a proven method....Lots of proteing, and a no white processed carbs have kept me in the 145 - 149 range for the last year.

Topic: RE: Anyone Experiencing Low Blood Sugar?
Hi Patricia,
I have been doing much much better lately. I have been to see and endocrinologist and he placed me on Glucophage. He says that I am pre-diabetic. I see a nutrionist weekly, and am finding that as long as I have nothing with sugar in it I seem to be ok. It was very rough for a while and I wondered if I'd ever get better. Well, this week I had to make a tough decision and that was wether or not to continue to take the meds or not, as they are known and have been causing me to gain some weight back. I certainly don't want to gain any weight back, and would actually love to lose another 30 lbs. I am now at 175 and have lost 145 lbs so far. I will be going in for skin removal the first of the year, and they say I will lose another 15 with that. So...... The story goes. I do feel terrific and am doing so much better and can do so many more things then I ever thought possible.
You keep up the good work yourself. Your doing awesome.
best Wishes,
Pammie
Topic: RE: Anyone Experiencing Low Blood Sugar?
My blood sugar would suddenly drop & I would feel shaky & break out in a sweat and almost pass out. My nutritionist suggested that I break up my meal & eat 6 smaller meals to keep my blood sugar more stable and on an even level. I've done what she said & it really seems to work. I don't have as many "episodes" as I used to & it helps me get more protein in. When I skip a snack, my body lets me know by bringing back that feeling!! YUCK!!
FYI - I'm two years out & 114 lbs lighter!!
Continued success to you!

Topic: RE: Plastics
Hey guys -- I have lost 180 pounds and have recently completed all my plastics (or so I hope). I had a lower body lift in January and was successful in getting insurance (Aetna) to cover most of it by providing four months of medical documentation of "rashes" (read between the quotes please....). I also had my arms and breasts done in another surgery, and recently completed my inner thighs and chicken neck in my last -- now I can heal! I may have been able to get insurance to cover my thighs too if I fought and waited another four months to get additional documentation, but didn't even try -- it was more important to me to just get it done and finally heal. I was lucky though -- I recently got a large enough bonus at work to cover these surgeries, and used it for my plastics instead of paying off credit debt like I usually do. Perhaps I'll be sorry later I spent this money, but I figure I'm worth it!
Lap RNY 6/16/03 -- 336/156 (would like to get down to 145!)

Arms/Breasts - 5/4/05
Thighs/Neck - 6/7/05
Topic: RE: have gained weight and don't know what to do
You just need to think about everything that you're putting into your mouth! Ask yourself do I really want or NEED this? The answer is NO you just feel like you need it! I'll tell you what I started to gain weight back too and I was so MAD at myself cause I went though with the surgey and have NEVER met my goal and wasn't even close to it and then I just started gaining the weight back. I wasn't going to let this happen so I just started something new! I don't GRAZE anymore! That was my problem! I have an inhome daycare and I feed the kids every 2 hours! But I would be munchin' ALL day long on chips, mac&cheese, crackers, not alot just a few at a time but all that sure adds up FAST!!! I don't let myself graze at all and I have lost about 10 lbs in 1 month! Wow I guess I was grazing too much! I haven't been exercising as I should be so I know that if I got off my rear end and started I would probably would loose even more! I'm weighting in at about 187. I'm really happy that I was able to lose the few lbs before I just let my self go right down the road of hating myself again! Don't wait! I too think that the WW would be a great idea!
