Shelly; I had surgery in June 2003 also and had huge hair loss starting just before 3month and it has finally slowed way down. I actually have lots of new growth. I've lost about 75lbs since surgery and feel pretty good! You sound like your doing great! Keep up the good work! Your picture looks wonderful!

This is me 'cause I am so happy. I am six months post-op and for the most part, I feel pretty great. Don't get me wrong, there have been a few days that wasn't so good. I got through them and am so glad that I had the surgery. I would do again in a second flat! I haven't had any major complications, which is wonderful. I just really wanted to say hello and everyone keep up the good work. Later, Sarah

YOU ARE NOT ALONE. I had my surgery the day after yours, I started at wearing a size 20-22 and now wearing 10-12, I wieghed 248 and now wiegh 171. I eat little things through out the day to keep my sugar level normal and work out almost everyday. I have been a SLOW looser from the beginning. I'm there with you hone.

Nannette, You have done excellent. I need to work on minimizing the bad fat, also. I will be 6 months post-op on Dec 27 and I am already experiencing the decrease in weight loss. We just have to continue to do the right thing and the weight will continue to come off. Congratulations.

Topic: 6 Month Update
Today is exactly six months since my surgery, and I had my follow up visit with the Dr on Friday -- she was very pleased with my progress and my bloodwork overall, but she wants me to up my protein a bit and my iron, as well as work on minimizing the "bad fat," although my cholesterol is down from 297 to 186. She also gave me a "goal weight" of 155 which is less than I thought it would be, but not unrealistic. I would be happy at 170, but we'll try for 155. I am no longer a diabetic, and no longer have asthma or sleep apnea. I have lost a total of 106 pounds since surgery and gone from a size 28/30 to a size 16/18. Overall, this has been much easier than I had anticipated, despite the continued hair loss and excess skin which I am still adjusting to. Don't ask me why, but I never considered the excess skin prior to surgery. In any case, while I have "averaged" an 18-20 pound loss most months, this last month I have "only" lost 8 pounds. Now I know that going forward, the loss will decrease. What is a reasonable expectation for me? Thank you all for your continued support. Lap RNY 6/16/03 - 5'5" - 336/230/155?

Susan, Hello. My name is Gary, and I just joined this forum. I have been thinking about doing this type of surgery, but have the usual questions. Like, what can you eat and not eat, what type of pain you have immediately after surgery and down the road, etc. What type of exercise do you undertake? Well, I hope all is well for you and that you are feeling better. Gary

Well I am down 50 pounds and wishing it was more. I went from a size 28 to 14-16. The inches are coming off.I still have trouble getting protein in. I have lost my desire for a lot of different foods. I weight in again on the 30 th of Dec. Hope the scale shows more loss. Susan
