hi paula- i was about 2 years post menopause when i had my surgery and at first was convinced that the rny had cured my hot flashes as they were gone- however, just lately i have been waking up several times a week with the dreaded flashes again- i called my gyno and she said hot flashes can go on for years and that the surgery probably just shook things up again- not much we can do about them unless we go on hrt which i don't want to do- i must say though that i am freezing all the time now post-op and the occasional hot flash seems almost a relief- good luck- janey open rny 6/2/03 236/140/135

Has anyone experienced hot flashes since surgery? I am 1.5 years menopausal and all of a sudden a couple of months ago, I started having hot flashes again!! Talk about miserable.... Does it have anything to do with the weight loss? I have lost 87 pounds since surgery and 99 since orientation. Will the flashes stop when the weight stabilizes? Paula A.

Connie, We have the same surgery date!!! Isn't this surgery wonderful!! I started at 300, I am now at 183, for a loss of -117 so far, with about 25lbs left to go until goal. I am soo thrilled with this, and with the health issues that have cleared up. No more bp, no more high sugar, and my acid reflux is gone completely. I have gone from a 28 to a 14 and life is really good. Cheryl Who needs new pictures

Topic: RE: Discouraged 6 mos post
Hi, I too am 7 mos post op and I have gone from a whopping size 28 to a sizze 18W with over 100lbs lost. I am so excited about myself that I find myself looking in the windows of stores when I pass and in the windows of the train when I ride. I look totally different than I did before. My daughter asked me....ma what's wrong with your neck, my husband said to her those are her bones. Girl I never knew they were up there around my shoulders, lol. I know that I could be much smaller than I am now but when I look back over where I was and where I am..........I am totally satisfied and Bless GOD everyday that he brought me this far. Take care!
