Happy Birthday!
I bet you are feeling great! Enjoy those new clothes while you can!
I bought some size 18-20's not too long ago, they were snug, now they fit perfect, I bet in two weeks they'll be traded in for some smaller ones.
It feels great, doesn't it?
Keep up the good work.
Topic: size of the pouch
Hi everyone, I've read a lot about people worrying over how much they eat. Our pouch isn't 2oz anymore.
At 7 months out it's not as small as it was right after surgery. Your doctors should have told you that you CAN eventually eat a cup of food at a time, but I'll bet not too many can eat a cup of meat, or a cup of something really sugary and not feel crappy!
I mean really, how much you can eat depends on what your eating. I can eat 1.5 cups of soup no problem! But I can only eat 5-6 bites of meat (very small bites).
I was given a menu by the dietitian before I had my surgery, it was supposed to be a two week menu plan of what I'd be able to eat 6 mo after surgery. THERE IS NO WAY!
Remember when we went on diets before and thought NO WAY can I survive on ONLY this, well now go to one of those 1200 calorie menus and you can say "oh man, I can't eat all that!"
It really does make me feel good to look at those old menu's and know that my pouch is fine!
I love being in control of my eating, and my new pouch gives me that control, I just don't hurt it by overfilling it just to see if I can.

You're doing wonderful! Remember that every persons wl is true to them!
If you're losing differently than others, that's because you are your own unique person! I had my surgery is June 2003 and have gone from a size 32 to a size 18-20, in my opinion, I am a very slow loser! That's fine, I am feeling healthy. Are you feeling healthier? I too suffer with a hernia that I'll be having repaired next week, are you having yours fixed? I hope to be able to exercise much more once that heals.
I'm wondering if maybe you're hoping to find answers to some problems you may be having? Or fear you may be feeling. I think everyone gets insecure about how much they'll be able to lose. It's old stuff. I've had to tell myself so many times that as long as I keep eating protein, drinking water, and exercising I'll be the size I'm intended to be. If I fall, I drag myself back on the protein/water train. Exercise is the hardest thing for me to push myself to do. I know that when I do it I feel great, now to make it a habit!
On an upnote -- according to my doctor we continue to lose, I was told 18 months out you can expect to level off (at least enough to have plastic surgery for the panni).
We are only a little over 1/3 there! We have time to complete this project, just set yourself a short term goal first; maybe more protein, or 10 extra minutes exercising, maybe you need more water...
JUST REMEMBER THAT YOU ARE DOING WONDERFUL -- FEEL THE DIFFERENCE -- ENJOY YOURSELF FOR WHO YOU ARE -- LOOK IN THE MIRROR OFTEN, YOU ARE BEAUTIFUL!!

hi tracey- i am exactly 8 months out and have discovered the weight loss continues exactly the way IT wants to- i slowed down alot at 6 months and thought it was stopping but i think what really happened is that the big weight drops just don't happen anymore and it continues slowly in drips and drabs- when i did the math i found to my amazement i am still losing an average 1 and a half pounds a week- it justs take a big overview to see it-
you will do it! just keep on the way you are- i think the key to my success is that i have had no sugar at all since my surgery, because i haven't counted carbs or calories- i just eat when i'm hungry and take my supplements including protein drinks- i couldn't be any more pleased and the weight just keeps melting away-
congrats on your loss!

OMG! I just found this board. It is so great to hear from everyone that had surgery around the same time as I did.I was 7 months out on the 25th,and the weight loss has really slowed down.I have not changed anything.I eat about 800 to 900 calories,at least 60 grams of protien, and stay under 20 grams of carbs.I never do pasta, rice, potatoes,or bread.I do exercise but I guess I will increase it, to see if it will help.Any suggestions?I am just so glad to know that we are all around the same,in our weight loss,in our goals, and in our attitude. This is the best thing I have ever done for myself, and believe you me,I will get to 140 if it kills me,and then I am going to heve everything tucked, lifted, sucked, whatever, and it will be a brand new me,heck,it allready is a brand new me.You guys rock, keep up the good work.We can do this.Tracey 06/25/04 302/187/140
Topic: How much can you eat?
I am 7 1/2 months post-op and I am frightened by how much I can eat. I have been using the rules of the pouch to try to control food volume but it isn't always easy. My doctor was going to do a barium test but he decided that there couldn't be a problem as I had alreadly lost 100 pounds at 7 months. I like to eat until I feel slightly full but that is just too much food to continue to lose weight. I'm trying to eat more veggies to fill the void. I can eat about a cup and a half of food in one sitting. I am scared. Anyone else feel this way?
