I am nine months post op. Had surgery on June 4th 2003. It was the best thing I have ever done for myself and I thank God everyday. I started out at 292 lbs and now weigh 152 lbs. I want to thank Dr. Murr for giving me a second chance in life.

Hello, I had RYN just 9 months ago June 6! It was the best thing I ever done for me! I started out at 285 and now I am at 174. Yes! Every time I look in the mirror I have to do a double take! Thank you Dr. Alexander for giving me a second chance to really enjoy my life! I did not have any problems, whatsoever! I would reccomend this surgery to anybody!

Topic: RE: How much can you eat?
I am 9 months out and a bit nervous about how much I can eat too! I lost 120 pounds and have slightly plateaued, but still losing a couple of punds a month. I actually ate a half a rack of ribs when I went out to eat last week! I can eat a personal sized Pizza Hut pizza (cheese, not the meat one). This is where the bypass saves us, since we do not absorb all the calories of what we eat!!

Thank you so much for that response. I guess the key is not to give up, and you are right. June is not that far back, and I shouldnt compare myself to others, but I do. I am so glad I have this website, and all you beautiful people to support me. Linda

Last Friday I had my follow-up with Dr Bolar (my surgery was 6/02/03). I told him I was happy as a clam with my weight, even tho I've only lost 1 (ONE) pound since the middle of December. He told me that many patients his a plateau 6-8 months out for several months. He told me he'd be surprised if the loss had actually stopped. I swear, I've lost 2.5 pounds since the (that time of the month just finished, and I used to lose then). All this is to say, don't worry; I've lost 90 lbs now and will be happy with any extra I can lose. After all, it hasn't been that long since June, really. And when was the last time you lost this much weight this fast? Hee Hee. I love my life!
