Topic: I wiill be 6 years out!
Hi everyone,
Its been a LONG time since I've logged on here.  I'm happy to announce that I have kept off all of the weight since my surgery 6 years ago this coming June.  I weighed in at 254 and I'm at 130 lbs.  I would like to lose another 10 or 15 lbs. but....time will tell.
Keep up with eating right, exercise and going to support meetings if need be.  I'm living proof that the surgery does work and the weight can stay off if your disciplined enough and really want to live a healthier life.
I'd be more than happy to e-mail anyone regarding my journey to a new me.  I can be e-mailed at [email protected]

Hey everyone,
The board has been quiet for a while.. I would love to hear from any of you and see how you all are holding up.  Personally I have gained 30 pounds in the last 2 years due to lack of good diet and exercise.  I am trying hard to get back on track.  I would be thankful for any words of support.

Topic: IN DESPERATE NEED!!!!!!!!!!!!
Hello, I have had gastric bypass surgery about 4-5 yrs ago iam having a very big problem here rather shall i say a LONG STORY!!!!!!! i had a problem with my back and was unable to continue my excersice, such as walking and going to the gym, right after I had the WLS my problem began. One morning as i was getting out of bed i felt a tingling feeling running up and down my spine, Iknow that I had fell a few days ago which was a while back but I had ignored it thinking that it was probably a muscle that i had pulled, so i decided to take a hot bath and then my wonderful husband rubbed me down.UMMMM well i thought that was it, to make a long story short I then returned to see Dr. Tex, as i did before the injury and after seeing him i just could not bring myself back to seeing him again after the comment that he gave to me. I really need someone to talk to, because i have not been back to see him or any other Dr. since he was so rude, and my husband was so upset after i returned home and told him how he treated me. OK! Waht had happened he came in the office and i was weighed and i had not lost the weight that he wasnted me to loose, he then in turned yelled and screamed and said to me u have not lost the weight that i was supposed to have lost so i stated to him that something was wrong with my back. He ignored that and said i cant help you if yopu dont help yourself very harshly, I left out crying and have not since returned. I then saw a back Dr. and he stated to me HOW IN THE HELL WERE YOU EVEN WALKING!!!!!!!!!!!!! I have had a lower spinal curgery with SIX YES SIX SCREWS IN MY SPINE AND HAD TO LEARN HOW TO WALK ALL OVER AGAIN . Now my quedtion is I have been looking for another Dr. that I could see and with no avail KNOW ONE SEEMS LIKE THEY CAN HELP ME. but in all truth I have know hard feelings towards DR. TEX........ And i do want to come back to see him again WHAT SHALL I DO.????????????:sniff: :sniff: :sniff: :sniff: :sniff: :help: :-S

Topic: RE: Has anyone gained any weight back after about a One and a Half Years after surgery?
I have also gained some weight back, but unlike most of you that are posting, I've gained about 50 lbs back. The harder I try to get it off, the more I seem to gain. I was 15 pounds from my goal when the weight gain started about a year ago. I was told not to diet, just to watch portions and what I was eating. Yeah right....tell that to my head when I felt like I couldn't get enough to eat. I went from a size 8 jeans back to a size 14 and some 16's. I even left the site because I was so disgusted with seeing everyone's accomplishments when I was such a failure after being so close and maintaining for over 2 years. I still don't know how I got here, but I'm ready to get back to basics so if anyone has any ideas for me, please help!

Topic: RE: update from Cassandra
Hi Cassandra-My surgery was June 5th 2003 with Dr. O. at ACMC. I was 250 lbs and now 125 and feel great. Your dumping syndrome with sweets sounds just like mine with the tachycardia and extreme fatigue for 30 minutes. I have two calium citrates that I like. Twin lab makes a wafer that I get on line and Citrical makes a petite tablet which is easy to swallow-(I pay $8.50 for 200 tablets of the Citrical petite at Walmart) I had an abdominoplasty in Jan '04 and am very satisfied with it. Carbohydrates are my downfall and I need to keep them in check or I can easily gain wait. Hope you continue to go well.

Topic: update from Cassandra
Hi all, just wanted to stop in and say hello. My surgery was on June 25, 2003. I was 300 pounds at the time. I am now about 150. My lowest weight was 133, about 8 months ago, but my friends told me I looked sickly at that weight. I think I look healthy at 150. I keep losing and gaining the same 10 pounds over and over, ha ha. I figure if I do that the rest of my life, that is ok with me. I eat just about anything I want. I can hold about 9 oz of something that is soft and mushy, but if I eat something dense like a chicken breast, then I can only eat about 4 oz. I still have some hypo glycemic issues. Not all the time, but when it hits me, it really wipes me out. If I eat too much carbs or sugar, I get about a 30 minute spell of heart racing following by severe tiredness, to the point where I need to go take a nap. I still take my vitamins everyday. I can really tell a difference when I forget to take them. I try not to skip meals. I eat about 6 times a day, or about every 4 hours. I still struggle to stay away from soda, candy, and sweets in general. I think I have a sugar addiction. ha ha. I would still love to have my plastic surgery, but I dont think I look too bad in jeans. I am just not gonna be wearing a swimsuit around anyone until then. Other than that, I am doing really good with my wls. Still very happy I had it done. My biggest worry is that I know I don't get enough calcium. I have tried every calcium citrate on the market. Guess I will just have to go back to the huge horse pills. Any way, I am doing real good at 3 years out. Hope you all are doing great.
