Topic: Medicare!
I have recently changed my mind about the type of surgery I want. I thought rny was the way to go for me. Now I want the Lapband. I know that medicare pays for the gastric bypass surgery but does it pay for the lapband. I have medicare because I am on disabiltiy and have no supplement insurance with it. Thanks

Topic: RE: Happy 1st Birthday to the new Me!
Thank you Margaret for your thoughts & prayers! They are much needed for all of us! In reference to your Type 2 Diabetes, I was on 3 different types of hypertension meds, 2 different antidepressants, a bipap or cpap machine for sleep apnea, prilosec and some other type of prescription antacid and on the edge of having to start taking pills for diabetes. Within 6 weeks of surgery, I had been taken off ALL meds and given a clean bill of health. BP is now 110/70, down from 210/110, sleep apnea, sugar and acid reflux all back within normal ranges. I actually looked at a BMI chart the other day and for the first time in 20 years, my weight actually falls within the "Normal" range, down from almost 50. As for the plastic surgeon consult, I think I am going to go for a second opinion, just to see if another doctor has more realistic ideas and is maybe more affordable. God Bless and good luck in your continued success with your journey!

Margaret,
Thank you for your kind words! These are all first steps but they are steps in the right direction. It has been years since I had to put a sweater on because I was chilled in summer. It is nice to know that we are not alone in the wt. loss journey and that we extended our lives for at least another 10 years or so.
I do not look at the scale very much anymore. I am getting close to fitting into a size 10. If I stay there great if I am a 12 or 14 I am ok with that also. Now is better than a 3x and I am happy for where I am today.
Embrace all that you have achieved and keep feeling good about yourself. Cathy
