Hi, I had my surgery 6/30. I am down 32 pounds. I feel this is slow. I know everyone is different. It's just that the past 3 weeks I've only lost 3 lbs. That's just not right. I'm really watching my eating... getting my water and excersicing at least 20 minutes a day. Doing a protein shake.. Just want to know that I didn't do this surgery for nothing. Please some encouragement please. Becky (Open RNY)

Hi Becky my name is Jamie and I had surgery the same exact day as you did. I think that you are doing just fine. I know that I lost about 36lbs the first 2 weeks and then did not lose anymore until just last week it started up again I think that after going through this drastic change our bodies need time to catch up. 32lbs is alot to lose in only 7wks so now our bodies need to catch up and realize that we are not starving ourselves. Also I was doing my exercises 20 min and I upped it to 30 min I don't know if that has helped so maybe you could try that out. I am now down 63lbs. Believe me you will get there you absolutely did not do this for nothing it will happen. Just keep getting in your water and maybe try a second protein shake and see if that might jump start the losing. Hope I helped in any way. Keep up your good work and it will come off.

Becky, I just checked my stats and I had lost 34 lbs at 7 weeks out. Our loss, while slower than some, is a good steady loss. I am now 11 weeks out and I am losing over 1/2 lb a day. I was with a doctor-friend over the weekend who said if I were his patient, he wouldn't want me to lose faster than this. I think you are doing great. Keep up the good work. Watch your carbs and watch your fats. Also, I've noticed that my loss is much greater in the weeks I eat more fish. I cook it on the grill and its yummy! Good luck!

Hi Becky, I had my surgery 8/30 also. I have only lost 36 pounds and nothing in the last 3 weeks! Sound familiar? My surgeon told me I might not lose as fast as someone with a higher starting weight. I was at 220 pounds. I do need to exercise more, I am a slug!! Linda

Hello Becky, My name is Brenda Holmes I am a slow loser also, I had my surgery 06/09/2003 I have only lost 62lbs. I do not exercise like I should and it is hard for me to get in all my protein. However, I have increased my water intake this week and I am exercising 3 day a week, and I lost 4lbs this week. Just be encouraged and dont let it get you down. I sometimes feel that everyone else is losing faster than me but I know that I have to break my bad habits of not putting my body in motion.
