Topic: 2Yrs post op and just had Tummy Tuck
Hi everyone! I had my WLS June 18,2001. I have lost close to 200lbs. I have maintained, give or take 5lbs, for the past 6 months. On July 11, 2003, I had hernia repair w/ a tummy tuck. I had allot of complications. MY blood pressure bottomed out after I came out of surgery and was given 2 pints of blood. When I went home, I kept running a fever, vomiting severe pain and swelling. On August 1,2003 I had to have my belly button removed for severe necrosis, I had allot of hemotoma's removed. My stomach was full of infection from my belly button. I am still sore and have some swelling but I feel allot better than I did. If anyone has been through the same, please let me know. I am very happy with my WLS and hopefully I will be feeling and doing allot better in the weeks to come. I have not looked at my new tummy yet, scared it might make me sick to see the hole where my belly button was. I kind of have a history of passing out and I work for a Physician *LOL* I am also afraid I might look like Frankenstein right now too. Thanks, Robbie

Guess that is why I post other places as well. Thank God for the internet and support groups. Many of the groups I post in though, have many newbies and I am tired of talking about "I am not losing fast enough" and "My hair is falling out what do I do" and "What do I eat now"

I have struggled alot since Iwas 1 year out and now Iam 2 years out and still struggling and I am not afraid to admit that . Newlyweds enjoy the honeymoon because it does come to an end,and unfortunately they only do stomach surgery and not brain surgery. The further out you get the more support you will need.

I have to agree with you. It really makes you wonder. I feel that the further out you are the more support you need simply because it is easier in the beginning. all I can say is that newlyweds enjoy the honeymoon because it does come to an end, after all they only do stomach surgery not brain surgery.

Topic: Wonder why
this isn't very active, is it because at 2 yrs out people are regaining and afraid to admit it, or do they become complacent and don't think they need the support.

Here I am two years post-op and I can't believe how good I feel. The excess skin drives me a little batty, but I've yet to decide if I want surgery to remove it. My boyfriend doesn't see the excess skin that I see, and my doctor says I have less excess skin than other post-op's have. I guess it's because I excercise a lot and drink plenty of skim milk in my protein shakes for breakfast. Dr. Pehrsson told me there is an enzyme in the milk to help tighten the skin and I took him at his word and continue to drink milk. I even bath in in at times. I am in a size 12 or 14 depending upon the cut of the clothes and I am continuing to lose, although slower than before. I just finished a week camping trip to Yosemite and hiked and hiked and rode horses, too. I never could have done it before. I encourage you to keep up the good fight!

I am 2 years post today!!! I've lost a total of 141lbs and I LOVE MY LIFE!! I am lucky that i am a tall person.. i look decent at the weight i am (229) and very happy here! (started at 370) I had a tummy tuck done in november and had two hurnias repaired..other than that, it's been smooth sailing! I too struggle with a couple of lbs up down, up down, but that's about it.. i am an avid excersiser and biker now! (last weekend i rode 15 miles to a friend's house, and tomorrow I plan on going 20 miles!) I have SO much self esteem and actually for the first time LOVE MYSELF! last year i was able to ride the roller coasters at six flags for the first time in my life! I would do this surgery a hundred times over.. it's made THAT big of a difference! Jessica thorn

I hear ya. Kind of got discouraged from reading all the "I am doing fine" posts. I got to the low of 183 and am now 199. I still exercise, but eat constantly. I am going to grad school and am stressed with all that work too. Just have to pull up the boot straps, and give myself a swift kick in the rear.
