So it's been almost a week since surgery, I had the VSG, I've been home for 4 days now and am struggling to do things the "right way." I am feeling weak because I am not able to get in the recommended amount of protein and I am no way near consuming all of the water I am supposed to be. Luckily for me I've been able to take it pretty easy, I attempted the grocery store yesterday with my 4 year old, I was sitting in the car not thinking I was going to make it but with a little encouragemnet from my son we made it inside and it went fairly well. I did however use my boyfriend as a crutch when I got home and let him carry all of the stuff inside, buy the time we got home I was exhausted. My incisions are healing nicely and it is getting less hard to sit up, not so much stabbing pain where they put a stitch in my stomach muscle. My only beef is that I think I want to eat just because I am so used to it, I have caught myself snacking on a few items that are not on my list and then quickly regretting it because of the awful feeling as they were going down and settling in my stomach. Ohhhhh, soooo much to learn! But the pounds lost already is a huge motivator. I just have to take time tonight to plan my meals for the rest of the week because I am returning to work tomorrow, not because I want to but because I have to.

Looking for friends in similar situations to help me along the way!
Thanks for reading

My surgery was on the same day but I had a RNY.

Luckily I can get my fluids and protein but my mind is telling me I should be eating more.  It's frustrating!

Totally agree with the incisions. The one on my left lower side hurts so much. Feels like they punched right through my abs.

I had RNY on May 16th & I feel pretty good but I'm a little worried because I've already plateued. I lost 24 pounds since I started my 2 week liquid diet prior to surgery but not much more since the surgery. I have my 2 week post op appt on the 6th of June so hopefully everything is ok. It also worries me that I'm able to eat more than I thought I would too. I need to quit weighing myself every day because it's driving me nuts. haha!

I totally agree. You sounds exactly like me.

I got so stressed about not losing enough weight but I calculate it out and I've lost 6 pounds a week since surgery and the book says up to 7 pounds.

I need to stop weighing myself.

I am taking a picture of msyelf every week as a visual reminder.  I know I shouldn't be so concerned about the numbers.

As for eating so much I find that as long as it's liquidy I can eat ALOT but when I start eating solid foods (I've had eggs and crackers) then it really fills me up.
