Hi everyone,
I started my pre op diet today, and I have to say, it has been better than I expected. HOWEVER it is still the first day, and watching my family eat food is a bummer! I need to get used to it though. They are being as courteous as possible. Good luck everyone! I'm having lap VSG on the 15th.

Thanks for sharing! I does help! I officially start tomorrow, but decided to do protein drinks yesterday and today, hoping that if I feel bad, at least I will be at home. So far it hasn't been bad, although I woke up with a headache yesterday. I get them frequently so I can't say it was low consumption or weather. Let us know how surgery goes!

Hi I started the 2nd stage (full liquids) pre-op diet today as well. My surgery isn't until the 22nd so I have two weeks of this. But the last two weeks was only one meal a day and protein shakes the rest of the time, so I don't think full liquids will be as hard going from one meal as it would be going from three meals, but we will see...I know the end result will be SO WORTH IT!!!

I begin my preop diet in about 5 days... i swear its what im the most nervous about too.. The past month or two I have made lots of poor choices and tried to bucket list a few things which caused me to gain UGH !! Good luck!! My surgery isnt until the 25th! Keep me posted on how yours went.
Hi! I can report that Day 1 was not bad at all. I had protein supplement with almond milk for breakfast. Soup for lunch and dinner. Along with sugar-free pudding. And lots and lots of water. Didn't seem to be hungry. Day 2 is off to a good start so we will see how the day progresses. Update you in a few days.
I am on Day 9 of the 2-week liquid diet. My surgery is on May 14 also. I was really nervous about the diet too. I did great the first two days but Day 3 I hit a wall. I felt weak and dizzy and nauseous. I called my doctor and found out it was because my diabetes medication was making my blood sugars too low because I wasn't eating much (like I used to). So I had to stop some of medication to get me through the diet. I have good days and not so good days where I feel very hungry but I just drink a couple protein shakes and it seems to curb the cravings. I've lost 7 pounds so far and will probably lose a few more before next Monday. I can have cream of wheat, strained creamed soups, SF puddings and jello, strained baby fruit and my protein shakes. Plenty of water. No caffeinated beverages either. It's been tough but I know I'll make it through. Only six more days to go! I am getting excited and looking forward to the day of surgery. My journey to a better and healthier me has started. Try to stay positive and keep thinking of the new you that will emerge when this is all over. I wish you the best on your journey.
I'm about through with Day 2 and like yesterday it wasn't so bad. I get 5 Optifast boxes and 2 bars. I've been timing them for every 2 hours, but did eat a bar earlier today than I should have. It wasn't so much that I was hungry, but wanted the chew factor. I'm drinking water like crazy 96 oz yesterday and already 120 for today - and that isn't counting each 8oz Optifast. I was craving something salty at work - of course they had popcorn machine popping yesterday and today, but I passed! I ended up getting a salt packet and sprinkling some on my tongue. I'm sure from all the sweet drinks and water consumption, I was craving the salt.
