I am told that pain on the left side is normal but it sure doesn't feel normal.
Father Jim, I hope you are blessed with an uneventful recovery and please let us know how you are doing. Panera's onion soup sounds wonderful, Maybe I will try some of that.
Have a blessed day

Well I had my RNY on May 4th. Everything went great!! I'll be 2 weeks post-op tomorrow. I have been psyched up enough for the clear liquids, with no hunger pangs or feeling of being deprived. I had my surgery with 2 gals who seemed to complain about "pain", sure the day of surgery and the day after there is pain but you have your pain button with liquid IV pain med and pain syrup by mouth for the next day. I regularly hit the button and call for my syrup, I had pain but it was very manageable. It did hurt to move but once you got moving it was great!!! I was doing 2 laps of the hallway on my day of discharge. The other thing has been the diarrhea like bowel movements after surgery but what do you expect with only clear liquids? Back at the parish for just a little work only. I see Dr. C on Thursday morning for my follow-up, hopefully pureed food. After all my different surgeries, this wasn't too bad.
