Hello!

I am new to the board and can use some advice/ideas from anyone!!

I am approved and have schedule gastric bypass on May 4 2010 with Dr.Schram at the Barix clinic in Ypsilanti MI......

All the staff has been very helpfull but some pre and post surgury do's and donts from actual patients would be super helpful. Especially anyone who was at Barix!! Also a "buddy" or two with dates around the same as mine would be wonderful.

Thanks in advance to all!!

Having my surgery on the 4th of May with Dr. Schumacher here in Miamisburg, Ohio.  We are all looking forward to starting a new life in May.  I have found a great deal of help on the Main board as far as pre and post-operative suggestions.  I just keep lurking around and eventually someone asks what I want to know.
I have purchased all my vitamins and have them ready.  I have also tried a number of different protein drinks so that I will know what I will drink  (Chike, Super Star Muscle) and what I won't (IsoPure).   I am going to sample some UnJury Chicken Soup and also come stuff called Nectar.  Everyone is different.  The advice that I hear over and over for after surgery is.
SIP, SIP , SIP, WALK, WALK, WALK AND CHEW , CHEW , CHEW.
Make sure to have some Gas-X strips with you at the hospital for gas.  I have tried them at home and they are great.  Everyone also advices taking a pillow .  I am assuming a smaller, firmer pillow to hold against your stomach when you cough.  Good Luck and keep posting.
We must let go of what was if we are going to embrace what is !

Congratulations! How exciting! I have the same date.

If you would like to be surgery buddies, please friend request me. I look forward to seeing your progress.

Hi everyone, I am new to the boards and having surgery in Sacramento on May 4th.

Everyone at Univ of Davis Med Center has been supportive and wonderful in every way. The post op is a bit overwhelming and I found the past few weeks stressful but exciting as next Tuesday gets closer.

Hopefully these boards will help me with some of my nerves pre and post op.

Good luck to everyone!
