Topic: RE: Itchy red skin around incisions
Thanks for all of your answers - they all make sense - I too think it was something that they swabbed on my belly after my surgery because it is almost in stripes on my belly. I did call the doc, and they said that it was most liely the bandages they had on me (either during surgery or riht after) that were over my steri-strips but that were removed before I woke up in recovery.   Either way, my doc said to take 25mg od Benadril every 8 hours, and it has really helped wiht the itching. The redness is there, but much less so and it hasn't spread, thank goodness.

Topic: Surgery Monday, WOW it finally arrived
I can not believe that my Surgery date has finally arrived, I only have this weekend then I am off to the Hospital Monday morning (Memorial Day) for surgery at 11 am.  I started this journey back in August last year so I am very excited that my day is now just around the corner.  I wish everyone a great Holiday weekend I know mine will be.

Can you have low cal/ low fat yogurt on your post op diet? If so, I would start having one or two a day. I mix in unflavored protein in mine so that I still get my protein in.

I too have had itch and rash in the areas BETWEEN my surgery sites.  I think it is residual from somehting that they used on my skin, or it could just be the healing process. I used some vitamin e ointment and was just careful to not get it near my port sites.  It helped with the itching, but I still have it on and off.

Glad you are home and on the mend.  Walkind was my saviour in the hospital too, you wouldn't think you'd want to but I had a schedule. Wake up, pee, go for a walk, sip water until tired, take a nap and do it again.

Topic: RE: Callorie intake post op
I can't stand the isopure drinks, what a waste of money that was!  I am getting my calorie intake up to about 600-700/day with my three protein shakes. I can get the whole eight oz. in now in about fifteen minutes.

Bowel changes have been very noticable (ie NEVER TRUST A FART!). I even started to take my iron supplements again yesterday in hopes that it would slow it down.  But liquid in, liquid out. I hear once you start eating solids again then you have to look out for constipation.  I don't look forward to that, but it's hard to go for a walk or go to store without worrying about the other either!
