Topic: RE: One year on May 1st!
First of all, Happy Surgiversary!  Mine was May7th and I'm also a couple pounds below my goal weight.  I have been concerned about losing too much, too and looking sick.  My family and some friends have all said I look great as I am and not lose anymore or I will look sick.

Anyway, I went for my one year check up and my surgeon and NUT were thrilled with my results!  They said I'm at a very healthy weight.  I asked them what to do if I don't stop losing.  They said to add things like cheese, nuts, protein bars and good carbs in general.  They also said that I could start eating more of other foods such as vegetables and fruit etc at meals because it's not quite as big of a deal if I don't get all my protein in every day as I'm past the stage where I'm at risk for hair loss.  That being said, they didn't say don't worry about it at all, just that a day here and there where I don't hit my protein goal isn't such a big deal.

i can eat almost a cup of food, but i still measure my food...i've been very strict about that and it's hard to break a habit ...i'm actually below my goal weight now, and i'm trying to figure out how to add carbs without decreasing protein.  my pouch is still pretty small, and the only thing i can figure to do is add some carb rich snacks...but it needs to be healthy.  i'm looking for ideas here.  i don't want to lose any more weight (right now i weight 1 lb more than i did when i was 16 and i'm 69 now!)...

I had surgery May 1st, 2009...I'm doing good...am at (or actually, a little below) goal weight.  I think one of the keys is to keep to a schedule, mealwise.  I know if I get thrown off my schedule I have a tendency to have a hard time.  I'm wondering if blood sugar (as in low blood sugar) might be part of your problem.  If I didn't get some protein it would make me feel icky...and sometimes I have to eat even when I don't feel hungry, cause if I don't my blood sugar will take a dive and then I'll feel positively yucky.  Just a thought.  I still eat very small amounts...my stomach will only hold about 6 - 6 1.2 oz, so I still measure my food.  If I take just that "one more bite" it will make my stomach hurt.

Change of subject...how did you get your weight loss ticker to show in your signature?  I can't figure that out.

Okay...here's my problem/question...i am at (or a couple of lbs below) goal weight...i don't want to lose any more weight...question is, how do i add carbs without decreasing protein???  my stomach (read: pouch) is still very small...i can eat about 5 1/2 - 6 oz at a time...so there's only so much room there.  i need to add carbs...well, i have added some complex carbs in the form of chili, stuff like that...cause there's protein there too.  i also added bagel and cream cheese to my afternoon snack.  is there anything else i can do?  i take in over 60 gm of protein a day, so that's okay...maybe an evening snack of some sort of carb?  any ideas on what that could be?

I'm a little over one year out, and at goal weight...here's what i eat:

B coffee...gotta have coffee...my eyes won't open without it...lol...
    8 oz 2% milk
4-5 oz cottage cheese (so sue me, i LIKE cottage cheese)
2-3 oz fruit (usually applesauce cause it's easy)

AMS 4 oz brown cow yogurt
         half a banana

L 2 mozzarella sticks
    half a banana

PMS (oooh, that doesn't sound good!) 8oz 2% milk
          half a bagel w/cream cheese

D 4 1/2 - 5 oz of some form of protein (chili is good, has complex carbs)
    2 1/2 - 3 oz fruit or veggie

this gives me over 60 grams of protein a day...i also drink about 80 oz of water a day and take my vitamins, of course...never miss the vitamins...i still measure my food (but i don't weigh it) and i read labels carefully...

You know what?  It really doesn't matter what anyone else thinks.  We all know how fabulous we look and feel.  There are always going to be people who aren't going to pay us the compliments we deserve.  I have decided to stay away from those negative thinkers.  I am finally on the right track with my thinking and self esteem and nobody is going to make me change my mind and go back.  I say YOU GO GIRL!!  This is a huge accomplishment and poo poo on those who don't appreciate or understand all we have been through.

Have Fun!!
Have a blessed day!!

Hello, all!!
I made it!  It's been one year since my Lapband surgery.  I have lost 50 lbs.  I am so happy, my self esteem is way up and I feel really, really good!  I'm not kidding when I say it's been a tough year (some say this is the easy way out), because a lot of you know exactly what I'm talking about.  It may have been tough, but well worth it because i want to be and stay healthy.  This is a life changing commitment from me to myself.  I am halfway to my goal weight and am so excited and plan to be an inspiration to all.
Have a blessed day!!
