Congrats on your surgery date and welcome to the waiting game .  I have been waiting almost a month and now it is only 4 days away. I can hardly believe it but it must be true, my ticker tells me 4 MORE DAYS. I think it is finally going to sink in that thisis really going to happen, finally. The only thing that can put a kink in it is the GI doc that did the EGD Last Thurs and said I have Gastritis and he took some biopsies that should be back tomorrow or Thursday, believing these will come back ok, Fri will be here at long last..I know this waiting is sooooo hard but we just have to look to the prize ahead of us.     GOOD LUCK to all                                  Linda

I know what you mean girl , my surgery is Fri, May 1. I look at my ticker saying 4 days till surgery and can't believe it is finally almost here. I am excited and scared at the same time, someone asked me in Sunday School if I was excited and told them most definitely. Several people have asked me " are you sure you really want to this"  I tell them I am so way past sure, they don't even know. I started th have this surgery 2 yrs ago but 1 1/2 weeks after my first appt I fell and broke my ankle, and finally after 4 surgeries on it and many long months in Rehab facility (1yr) and outpatient PT, gettting rid of the boot I was in and now in a brace that goes from special shoe I have up to just below the knee, I have finally gotten the go ahead from my PCM, Orthopedic doc ans surgeons at the Air Force Base, because they won't do it on base because they say I have too many other med problems, want it done at COE, which I am fine with. I have complete confidence in my surgeon and the pulmonologist he had me see, who will be there for the surgery, with cardiology on call.  I didn't mean to tell you my whoe life story.   Good Luck on your surgery and may we meet at this forum and have successs stories to share                   Linda

I can totally relate girl. My husband isn't 1oo% into this as he doesn't beleive I will stick to this, boy is ever so wrong. In fact my surgery is May 1 in Mobile , Alabama at Mobile Infirmary Medical Center and he leaves (for his job) Sun May 3 and will be gone for 2 weeks, 1 week in England & 1 week in Italy. I am not doing too bad on the 10-day liquid diet but dreading the magnesium citrate I have to take the night before.  I found some cherry flavor at the drugstore, Wal-Mart doesn't carry it, I think maybe if I mix it wih some Twisted Cherry Nectar it will help me get it down better.   Mt friend said just hold your nose and down it. NO WAY!!. Do you know about the website "theworldaccordingtoeggface.com" is really good for recipe ideas, she has lots of shake recipes, protein ice cream, etc  I like to look there for when we get to pured and soft foods and beyond.    Goood Luck again for your surgery and will be praying for you all.                            Linda

Fri May 1 is my surgery date. It's in Mobile , Al , so my dayghter & I are driving over  o n Thurs, because the night before bowel prepmight linger to the next day & there are not a lot of places to stop along the way, and I don't want to have to make any sudden, unexpected stops with no place with a bathroom. I have to register at the hosp at 5:30 Fri. morningand surgery should be around 7:30am  The first night I will be in ICU just in case I have any breathing or heart isssues or in general, any complications I will be in the right place, acording to my doc. I have to bring my c-pap machine with me, I was hoping to leave that at home and I hope after this surgery that I will be able to get rid of that machine and oxygen attatched to it.     All other May surgery dates good luck on your surgeries and a speedy recovery. May we meet next year at this time AND HAVE MANY SUCCESS STORIES TO SHARE                         Linda

Thanks everyone for the kind words. I am having it done at the University of Michigan in Ann Arbor - not far at all from Ypsi! I am nervous about doing everything right and fitting in all of the protein, vitamins, and water.
