Topic: Plans for the upcoming months...

Hello Everyone,

So, now that you all have your dates scheduled (and some of you have already had your surgeries!) do you have any big plans for the coming months/year. I'm really excited to have my surgery this month...when I started this process I was thinking I'd be having it in June or July if I was lucky but I managed to get through the program much quicker than I had anticipated.  Just think...at this time next year we could be 50, 75, 100+ pounds lighter!

Things I'm looking forward to:

My friend's wedding in September...maybe wearing a sleeveless dress won't be so bad?
My nephews 1st birthday in October...I want to run around and play the day away with him
Vacation next year...I've already decided that my reward for a job well done will be some sort of vacation next summer

What about you guys?

Topic: RE: First Day ON Liquid Diet
I am on day 4 and it hasn't been easy but on the other hand I haven't been completely miserable either.  Luckily, I can have baked or grilled fish and chicken if I need to. The first 2 days I didn't have the chicken but yesterday I did give in and have a piece since the dietician talked to me about it at my preop.  It was good!  I also seem to feel satisfied if I have the broth from wonton soup or egg drop soup.  I can also have sugar free instant breakfast and protein shakes.....those have been great for me aas well.

We just have to be strong!  We don't have too much longer now guys!

Topic: LOOKING FOR SUPPORT??????
Hello.... I am brand new to this whole thing...earlier,i posted somewhere, just dont know where it went??? Is there anyone out there who wants to take this journey along side of me.
I am having my surgery on May 19th.... I just started my 2 week pre op diet today...
I have tons of support at home with family and friends, but thought it would be nice to share with others that are about to walk in my shoes....
This decision to have the surgery has been ongoing for about a yr now.  i finally made the appt in march to see the dr.,  completed my work up in a month, and got approved 2 weeks after that, and here I am....

Looking forward to making some new friends,
along with any questions comments and concerns....

ps: did i mention i could use all the help i can get on here...lol

Hello, Jennifer B. I see we have the same surgeon and you are a week ahead of me. Please be sure to let me know how it goes and what your experience was like. I'm nervous and anxious to get started, all at the same time!

Hi, I'm scheduled for surgery 5/21/09. I start my 2 week liquid diet on Thursday (5/7) and I'm very apprehensive about it. These posts really are a big help and encouragement. Thanks for sharing your experiences!

Topic: RE: First Day ON Liquid Diet
I'm on day 2 and went off the wagon today and ate a small cheeseburger  This is a tough one for me.  I am happy to say i'm back on the liquid wagon...One word of advice.....have an emergency  plan in mind just in case you cave in.  I wish I did.  It would have been healthier and low in fat  for sure.  If your feeling weak or have a killer headache like I did, I would add the creamed/strained soup.  Also try to have something every 2 - 3 hours.   Do all you can to avoid going off.

Good Luck!!

Congrats on getting your surgery date.

Clear liquids would be water , crystal light, SF Jello, SF Popsicle, chicken broth, coffee (no sugar or cream, but you could have splenda), SF Tea (another note most Dr want decaffeinated drinks)
