Topic: RE: A happy panic
It was such a relief to see this posted. I have been working diligently for 4 months going through appointments, educational classes, support groups, etc. Now that I actually have a date for surgery (6 days to go) I am freaking out!!! It's so exhilerating and terrifying all once.

Topic: RE: Having surgery on May 21st and started my liquid diet today!!!
I'm on day three of my liquid diet. It really isn't too bad since by now I've cut my food intake down quite a bit anyway so I'm not starving. I do get the stomach growls, then drink some water, protein drink or jello and it seems to go away. I do miss chewing on something. I realized I'm not hungry, just want to chew. My surgery is on the 13th. I bought some premade foods for my family while I'm going through this so my husband can do the cooking. They have been good and eat while I'm not around or I just go into the bedroom while they are cooking and eating. I know we are still supposed to eat as a family, I just can't do that yet!!

Topic: A happy panic
I have been working for this for quite a while - including a battle with the insurance company. Among other demands, they insisted I obtain letters from doctors other than my surgeon. I had heard that the insurance company denies the inital request to "filter" out only the people who are serious. So I did the only sane rational thing a person would do -I buried them with letters from every doctor I had at my disposal. Sorry -I'm just a stubborn iri****alian kind of girl. As most doctors will have residents/interns in with them, I asked them for letters too stating it would be a good learning excersise for them for the future. They were more than happy to comply. This sent with a letter of my own, reflecting my journey and dreams to be there for my husand and baby for many years to come. The insurance company recieved it on 4/28 -and approved it on 4/30. My surgeon's office has scheduled me for just after Memorial Day. O M G! O M G! O M G! O M G! O M G! My focus has been on getting approved -with that done - reality and panic is now setting in. I'm like a kid waiting for christmas morning - coupled with O M G! This is really happening -and start getting paniced with what if's, unknowns, and healthy dose fear. Am I crazy? Does / Has anyone else had this paniced euphoria?

Well if your boyfriend is supportive of your dicission, meybe he could be responsible for feeding himself and the kids, there are alot of quick easy things for them to have so you can be away from them in another room or outside for a walk. Thats what my husband did for me and it helped alot don't get me wrong he had some coplaining on some of the nights cause he's not a cook, but I kept telling myself that I was going to make this work and put me first. Good Luck

Blessings on your surgery tomorrow. You have already started losing and your new tool for weight loss will be installed tomorrow. Your positive attitude and the lap band will make it possible. We gained the weight over time and it will take time to lose it, whether you have the lap band or another type of surgery. Unfortunately the insurance companies decide for us. I give thanks that you are able to at least have the lap band. There are those who desire WLS who have no insurance or their insurance covers no procedure. So...stay positive and your dream and goal will be a reality in time. YOU CAN DO IT!

Thanks for the update, Lauren. So glad to hear that you're doing well. My DS is scheduled for May 16 and I'm really scanning the message board for people with recent surgeries. I just don't want a lot of surprises since I'll be a long way from home. I'm going to be flying back home twelve days after surgery and I hope I feel as good as you do! marssie

Well I am a little nervous because I feel like the day is getting closer. 13 days and counting... the worst part is the liquid diet because I have 3 little girls which I have to cook for and my boyfriend so u feel Kind of tempted with watching them eat in front of me but just taking it one day at a time. Anyone have any suggestions on what can help make these 2 weeks easier?

Topic: Hey guys.... almost a week out..
Well guys sorry I haven't been online, but it kinda still hurts to sit straight up just from the gas... That is the only thing that bothers me... it was great earlier today and then oops up into the shoulder and chest agin... I swear I'm going to ask them if they even took any out...lol...its not painful as much as uncomfortable. I feel pretty darn good otherwise... its hard getting in the proteins. They want me to get 60 grams a day in.... wow its hard. I'm doing my best. I really like cup of soup cream of chicken made with Simply Smart milk instead of water. Its 10 grams of protein and feel like I'm eating real food. I cooked a real dinner tonight and it was hard not even tasting it to see if it was seasoned right. ANd man my mouth was watering the whole time. You don't realize how mental food is untill you can't have it. I am in no way hungry, but my mouth still watered.... things seem to be getting better everyday and even only a week out I don't regret anything... I wish everyone luck and a speedy recovery. I swear I got my gallbladder out 6 years ago and I think it was way worse than this... try not to stress and know you are in good hands.... Lauren
