Thanks, Kristin. I thought I was the only one who was either a big baby or had zero pain tolerance. I am taking it easy and managing the water and protein really well, so am hopeful that this will turn around soon! Had mine Monday the 5th!

Topic: Home Sweet Home .... but
I got home late last night. It was soooo good to be in my own home, my own bed and have my family around. Wednesday's surgery went well but there were a few post -op complications, nausea and S.O.B. (shortness of breath). I am unable to walk very far, okay hardly at all, but I keep trying. It is disappointing. So many people 5 days out say I am down 10 or down 12 or more pounds. I am barely down four My head knows this is a greta thing but I guess I just need to hear from others Thanks to all Trish

I felt the exact same way. My surgery was wednesday and I came home today! As soon as my head cleared, my first thought was What DID I DO? I saw the panic on my son's face when he saw me that first night but 24 hours makes a world of difference and the next day he said, surprisingly, "you look great,Mom". I had a bit of trouble but my doubts passed with the first step on the scale today and my reminding myself of the goals I want to achieve... I wish you all the best. Please let me know how you do! I am rooting for you

Hello Dona, I too am nervous, my surgery is the 19th of this month.I have been riding an emotional rollercoaster, I have had the nervousness, fear, questioned myself as to why I'm doing this and do I really want to do this? My friend was leaving to go on vacation the other day and said"You know I will never see you looking like this again."Needless to say that was a very powerful statement, I was a mess! but I got on here and posted my delima and I had some great responses, I know now that everyone goes thru these feelings.Dona know that you are not alone, if you need to talk we will be here for you, I will keep you in my prayers.Good Luck on your surgery tomorrow.Everthing will be ok.

Dear Donna, You may be experiencing the full and complete range of emotions regarding your up coming, life changing event! Excitment, fear, sadness, loss, anger, joy! I just had my surgery (lap band) this past friday and do understand how you feel. My identity has been so connected to food. When I woke up this morning, I felt sadness- It is mothers day- I can speak with my mom and my children. I am sad over the events that historically, for my family, revolved around food. Where will we eat? What time?? It goes on. Mothers day brunch! Well, I did acknowledge this Passage, allowed myself to feel sad, but did try to put things into perspective. I know that now, because of my focus on weight and health, I will not only have at least 40 more mothers days, but I will be able to cross my legs!! Allow yourself to feel the gamut of emotions, acknowledge them and then let them go. Only Great things will happen. I wish you luck! You nare not alone. Barrie

I'll mention it....OUCH!!!! Seriously. I tried to cut down on my pain meds too soon...don't make the same mistake. Take what you need and REST. Open surgery requires a longer recovery time than the lap method. Also, when you do move around, it will help to brace your stoma*****ision with a small firm pillow...like a toss pillow for the couch. It will really help. Use the pillow also when you do your deep breathing exercises. They are really important. The good news is that the pain does lessen a bit each day out. It will flare up again if you do too much...so be careful. Feel better soon Marilyn! Hang in there.
