Topic: RE: 1st Dumping Syndrome experience
Oh man I am so not looking forward to my first dumping syndrome experiance... my Dr. told us we could only do Boost Glucose Control for diabetics. Maybe you can exchange it. The Boost I had was pretty good and settled well. I am so glad my diet advanced today... no more yucky shakes except if I don't get enough proteins in during my meals... I'll let you all know how my first dumping issue goes... we all will go through it adventually...
Topic: 2 weeks out update....and weekly weigh-in....
Well I am 2 weeks out and feeling GREAT. I have lost 13 lbs sinnce surgery. My Dr. is very pleased. He said some people loose to fast in the begining and it causes extra skin problems. He said the way I'm going and my age I shouldn't have to worry about my arms and legs.... whew..he said my tummy will have to be done thanks to my children...lol...and a breast lift or implants if I want. LOL my husband is already saving for the boob job... Also I got my diet advancment today.... who would've thought tuna and chicken would taste so good. I couldn't finnish my 2 oz of chicken. and after 1/4 cup of tuna I was feeling full. It feels so good to be eating real food... I hope everyone else is doing great...I saw other boards doing weekly weigh-ins so I thought maybe we could start doing it on Wed.'s. The middle of the week...I will be the first.
Before program 332lbs
Day of Surgery 307lbs
today 294lbs
-38lbs
Topic: RE: Insurance coverage help needed
Lap-band is day surgery with back to work in only 3-5 days. This is the band that uses restriction alone for weight loss. RNY is where they form a small stomache and bypass some of the upper intestines. This is 3-4 day hospital stay and about 2 weeks recoupe time, but it can take people up to 6 weeks. I'm 2 weeks out of RNY and feel great. The RNY uses restriction and malsorbtion. It also cause dumping syndrom if you eat alot of calories or fat at once. I haven't had dumping so I can't tell you what it feels like, but I honestly don't want to find out... If you follow directions from your Dr and don't cheat it will work no matter which one you choose. My Dr.'s feel bypass is better for people with a BMI over 45, but they let the final choice be the patients. most insurances cover the procedure. Just check with them on what you need to do prior to approval.... some require you to do more within a program than others.
Topic: RE: Plastic surgery after weight loss
I just went for my post op with my surgeon and he said because of my age and if I loose slow and steady I should have no problems in my arms and legs. He did say that because of the extra skin and stretching from having my kids, I will need a tummy tuck, that insurance pays for if its alot of skin. And he said because I'm young I'll probably want a breast lift, but I won't medically need it. And my husband is already saving for the boob job...lol... seriously worry about loosing weight and being medically healthy, then worry about extra skin. I would rather have extra skin then be dead from being obese...take it one step at a time... lauren
