Topic: Dumping really sucks....
Okay finally had my first dumping experiance. I don't know what it was... I drank Over the moon FF Chocolate milk... and took a tums about 15 minutes later....OMG it was a tingley feeling that started in my stomache, then the sweats and spins, then a little dry heaving( boy that feels weird)... then laying in bed for 30 minutes till the dizziness went away. Man I can't imagine that happening while I was out somewhere. I would have to pull over if I was driving.... anyone else have dumping yet? Lauren

hi Frank,
Have you checked out her page on the OH site: http://www.obesityhelp.com/morbidobesity/bariatric+surgeon+profile+Janey+Pratt+fhj.html
Her son is the best friend of my husband's office mate. All I know is that she is a good mom.
good luck,

Topic: RE: 4 Days to RNY lap surgery!
Hi Crystal
Today is the day before. I was so scared. If you are anything like me you were second guessing yourself like crazy. Relax, try to practice deep breathing. I am 16 days out RNY WLS. The days pre op were the worst as far as I was concerned.
If you can, buy yourself something pretty for the hospital. I bought a new housecoat. While I was in the hosp, a coworker bought me some small bowls, baby spoons, shakers, and mixers. I found it really helpful. I also used a timer so that I could drink every 15 mins. and get my liquids in.
Best Wishes for a safe surgery and a quick, painless, and uneventful recovery!

No real advice for you except to say hold on to why you are doing this and the road ahead is a positive one.
I wish you all the best for tomorrow and will spare a thought (or twenty) for you.
Take care and wishing you all the best for an uneventful surgery and I will look forward to seeing you on the losers bench. My surgery is a week on Thursday so I will hopefully see you on the losers bench then as well

Topic: RE: A little worried?
Hi
I know when I quit smoking, I felt worse at the beginning. I would cough up a lot of junk from my lungs. Maybe it is your body's way of getting rid of the stuff caused from smoking?
Good luck
Have a safe and uneventful recovery.

Topic: RE: Newbie - Sugery Hope to Be - Encouragement Appreciated!
Hi Sib
Welcome to OH. I am 16 days out RNY WLS. I am 45, started at 290 lbs. It is so very scary. But once it is done and over with, you have an exciting new life to deal with. According to this site, many of the co morbidities decrease after this surgery. I know my reason for getting the surgery done was to prevent getting more.
Good luck and Best Wishes,
Di

Topic: RE: Seriously - can one person have this much gas?
Hi Simone
I have to say thank you for the laugh. I know it is not funny, per se, but you have an awesome way of writing. I, too, am experiencing a lot of gas. I have found that the smell varies with what I eat. I am 16 days out RNY WLS. I have not had any problems with diarrhea, although I was on iron pre op and in the hosp post op. When I see my internist, I will be reevaluated for the iron.
I am glad to hear that you do not have any pain. I figure the gas is a small price to pay. I am glad to read that there is help for the smell.
Take Care

Topic: RE: HELP getting through 2 weeks of pre op diet
Hi
I had to do the 2 week as well. I used really cold water. I wasn't too impressed with the vanilla, so I tried to add really cold "timmies" coffee and it was great. It tasted like a Timmies iced capp. The first couple of days were hard, but after that, I did not feel hungry at all. If I felt deprived, I would have diet jello. I also had a great night the night before. I had some of my favorite food and too much rye. Hung over next day, but it was worth it. I am now 16 days out, RNY WLS.
Best of Luck, and hang in there!!
You can do it!!!
