I will have my hubby and friend here to help the first 5 days, and friends close by who will stop in... As far as walking, we purchased a tred mill for that very purpose of walking as soon as I'm able to. I will more than likely do short walks...like to the mailbox, around the yard, etc.... Thanks for the reply!

Maybe I wasn't too clear, but he'll be home the first 5 days....possibly leaving after that. It's not "just a trip" there are a few cirmumstances as to why he needs to go see his family.

Topic: RE: Got Surgery Date...becoming Scared now
Diana, It's been almost a year for me. Just shortly before my surgery I was a wreck. I got brave and called the local support group, and went to one of the meetings. It was the best thing I could have done for myself. I talked to women that had gone through the surgery, who had lost weight, and who were so helpful in giving me some sound suggestions and comforting thoughts. My best suggestion is to find the support group in your area - call the person in charge and see how soon you can meet with some of the people in your area that have already been there done that! You won't believe how much comfort you can gain from talking in person with others! Best of luck, and no matter what anyone does say, it takes lots of courage to do what your about to do! You go!!!!

I am only 5 days post op Lap RNY and already my legs are back to their normal size and turning to a normal color. A BIG change from the 3-4 + edema I've had for the last 10 years.

Topic: RE: protein HELP
OK this is gonna sound nutty but the meat baby foods ( like first foods) have about 8 grams of protein in a 2.5 oz jar. Add a dab of sea salt and warm them a bit and they are edible. I had to try something else because I can't find a protein mix my pouch likes.

Hi Carol, I also don't know how to up load my picture -still trying to see what an Angel is, also have lots of questions and have the same date as you May 27th. i've started to think of it as my own "independence day" as I will be liberated! you will need someone with you for the first few days and maybe a freindly neighbor or girl friend to check in with you after that. I have several friends that have had the MGB. THey are all in different stages. 2 have celebrated their 1 year anniversary and look & feel fantastic. The other 2 are 3 & 2 months our and are doing great. They all say the same thing -WALK. WE can do this in the buddy system you and I.

Hi, I don't know what your starting weight is but I don't suggest being alone for the first five days. I really needed someone to comfort me and hep me get my shakes etc. Also, the best thing to do is walk walk walk. It was 100 degrees here in LA all week so I have literally been doing laps around my not so big house. I set a kitchen timer to go off every hour and then did 10 laps. That was the onl thing that helped move the gas through. Good luck!

I can't imagine how you felt, Im sure you are very disappointed. But I think it is better to be safe than sorry. The only bad thing is you would think the anethesiolgist would have looked at your records ahead of time.
