Topic: RE: Medical right violated at hospital -long sorry
I've been thinking about your post for two days now. This is a huge issue for RNY patients. Did you post this on the RNY forum? I think there are quite a few activists there who may have some good suggestions.
Do you want this fight for yourself or for all RNY patients? If you want it for yourself, did you speak with the hospital administrator? If you want it for all, my first thought is to go to the consumer reporter at the nearest large television station and present your case. Contact the ACLU, they are always looking for a good fight.
This was such a scary situation. I'm sorry you had to go through with it.

Topic: Two issues: constipation and protein
Okay, I am almost three weeks out of rny (as of Monday), and had my first real problem with constipation. I thought I was going to die. Couldn't get anywhere for the life of me. Started taking the Colace capsules, and still no relief, my mother had to give me an enema today, and that helped some, but my goodness, I am still trying to get my strength back from this today. What do you guys do for constipation and to prevent it? Does this crap get any better? And, I cannot stand my protein shakes now, so am trying to get the protein in and having a hard time. What is everyone doing for protein? Help please.
Topic: RE: port pain when walking
Sandy, I had a rny on 05-05-08 and I am still having pain on my left side which is where the drain was and the biggest incision of mine. I have been worried that it is a problem, or just healing, etc. and I have been in touch with the nurse/surgeon...I am somewhat better today, and will just monitor it to be sure it is not infected, etc. I am just wanting to tell you that some folks take longer to heal than others, and you may have pains while walking, sitting, getting up, perhaps longer than some others. However, be sure to keep in touch with your surgeon or nurse and let them know. Sounds like a normal pain, but jus****ch it, and ask the doctors to be sure. Good luck to you, and let us know how you are doing. I will be three weeks out this Monday, and my pain has not totally gone away, however, is much better.

I had lapband 7 days ago too. They told me to go full liquids on Saturday. My regimen is to drink 3oz of something with protein in it every waking hour and water in between. I am frankly, having trouble accomplishing this, but I keep trying! I broke down and made some scrambled eggs tonight just to get my intake up. tasty.
Topic: port pain when walking
I am one week post op and I am healing well with the exception of some pain when I walk on the port side. It seems like a sharp pain on that side I get only when I am walking. Has anyone had this. should i be worried
