Yeah....I think at this point, having gone thru this to lose weight, nothing will be fast enough! I'm content with 19#'s lost in 3.5wks. But we'll see what the next few weeks bring. I KNOW that if I could incorporate exercise more on a daily basis I would see faster results but as a mother of two under 4 I'm just pooped all of the time. Try, try, try. In the long run this WILL be a benefit to us all.

Yes! The weight is coming off slower than I thought. I knew this was going to be tough.......and it has been tough adusting to everything......but I knew that it would be worth it with the endless stories of 20 and 30 lbs lost each month for the first few months. I lost 13lbs on the pre-op liquid diet......and 3.5 lbs in the two weeks since my surgery. Every one says "it will happen" and be patient but it's hard knowing what I've done to myself and then not seeing any more results than I would from a "typical" diet. I hate to be a downer.....but it's true!

I was one of the 1St that my doctor has done this procedure on and I am feeling the same way you are. I go back for a check up in june the info that there giving patients is based on what we are telling them. I am getting very discouraged I feel like I didnt have anything done because it seems I can eat anything although I havent ate any meat yet I feel myself starting to cheat .

Sarah, I did the same thing and felt the same way. I have a 7 month old baby boy and a 22 month old girl. Both C-sections. My surgery was on May 14th I am 12 days out and doing good. My C-section was worst than this. This pain is a little more internal but it is less than the section. Good Luck and try and get some rest. If you have any questions when you get out just email and I will try to answer them. I am still trying to figure this out as well.Good luck and let us know how you do. Tammy

You will do great. I had my sugrery the 19th and today is the first day I feel lots better. I had lap. bypass and have fibromyalgia so I was scared. I couldn't sleep and just keep reading these forms. I have gotten my strength back a little every day and have surprised myself with the progress.I know in time you will be going and losing what a great feeling.

Topic: RE: drain??
Frank, I had a drain the first 4 days in the hospital and they said I might have to go home with it if the consistency wasn't like watered down koolaide but fortunately by the time I left the Doc took it out. The drain is there just to let them know how your are healing and I guess they can tell if you have a leak with it as well. It is painless you won't even know its there. You just have to keep the wound site clean after the drain has been removed. Hope this helps and good luck. Tammy

Topic: RE: Fibromyalgia and Surgery
I was diagnosed with fibromyalgia 1 year ago. I had gastric bypass surgery on 4-15-08. Since my surgery, I have had almost no pain associated with my fibromyalgia, and am no longer take Lyrica. I was also taking Kadian for breakthrough pain, and have now cut that daily dosage in half. My physician told me before my surgery that my fibromyalgia would not get any better after surgery, so you can imagine how upset that made me. I'm here to tell you that his statement just was not true. I DO feel a great deal better than I used to. Before the surgery, I seem to live only to take my meds so I wouldn't have any pain. Now, I tend to forget to take my meds because I feel so much better. Who could ask for more?

Good morning, I'm so excited I can't sleep. I've been up since 3am. I feel like I'm "nesting" the way I did before the c section to deliver my 2nd child. I am so busy trying to make everything is clean and ready. I know I probably should rest up but I just can't . Maybe it's just nervous energy. Anyway this time tomarrow I will be at the hospital. Please keep me in your thoughts. Sarah

Topic: RE: port pain when walking
Sandy, I have that pain when standing and sitting back down. I think it is just a bigger incision...plus, don't they sew our ports down? I have never had an abdominal cut, but it seems normal since they went through muscle and nerves and for me, I hold weight mostly in my tummy so there is a lot of weight pushing on the spot....hang in there, ok?
