Topic: 2nd fill and I think I have restriction?
I had my 2nd fill on Wed 2 weeks ago. Everything went well, I have had good weight loss. But prior to my fill I was hungry, I could eat but I would stop at a half a cup or so. And I would still choose foods that were high in protein low in carbs. So I was excited to get my fill. Well now my morning eggs get stuck, they do not come back up (thank god!) But it is painful. My tuna even got stuck on Monday and I am not sure am I over filled or this what restriction feels like. Before I did not have any of the feelings, everything was going down smoothly. Any ideas? I called the dr. they said try to go back to musheys, I haven't really left them. I am not eating steak. LOL. Anyway, if anyone can share if this being stuck, restriction or what? I would greatly appreciate it. Rita

I did not have a drain and thank god for that. It was smooth sailing for me and my surgery so no drain was needed. I did have the pain ball and that started leaking out on day 3 so they took it out and I was fine from then on. The only thing that hurt was the heparin shots after they removed the ball.

Hey Lauren, how are things going? Glad to hear you have moved on in the world and that you are over the dry heaving. I have not had a problem really, I have dumped a few times, but it was because I was eating too fast and like before surgery. I deserved it every time. How much have you lost? I love the fact I am able to wear clothes I have not been into in over a year. WOW!

I had a really bad week and a half... I couldn't eat without dry heaving and felt like crap all the time.. I finally realized I was needing to advance my diet before the nutrcianist reccomends. I have never gone against my programs orders untill now, but I feel great since introducing some carbs back into my diet. Mashed potatoes are my new favorite. Just 2 tablespoons with my 2 oz of chicken or protein and I'm good. I feel like a normal person again. I went walking and look forward to keep feeling better and better and thinnner and thinnner.... I hope everyone is doing well...you guys are always in my thoughts.... and for everyone having a tough time... wait till your 4 weeks out and you will feel like a new person... bye for now...Lauren

Topic: RE: drain??
Not everyone has a drain...it depends on how much bleeding you did while in surgery and other facotrs. Some Dr.'s always do it and some just do a wick. I had a wick and a drain because of a small compication during surgery. It being there doesn't hurt...its like a flexable hose thats about a 1/4" thick that is held in place with stiches and a staple or two on either side. When they pulled it out I had mild discomfort that lasted only while they were taking it out. The nurse had me hit my pain pump before and the Dr. said why it doesn't hurt.... I said to him "Have you ever had one?" he tried telling me yes... I hit the pain pump and it still stung a bit...and I then called him a liar... I didn't like the resident anyways. He was a young no-it-all. Anyways don't worry about it its not anything to get yourself stressed over.

Topic: Seriously needing help with constipation/lightheadedness
Okay out there.....still have major constipation issues. RNY 05-05-08, and I am sick to death of the laxative bit and the stool softners....is there something out there I can do to help this issue of constipation, something I can eat or do without the harshness of laxatives? I am getting the liquids in for the most part, and am very close to getting the proteins in on a daily basis, and am trying to get the exercise in. Please give me any suggestions on either issue. Thanks.

Thank you for your comments about being disappointed on the rate of weight loss! I had my open RNY wls on may 5Th and i am going thru more depression than usual. I guess it would be more accurate if i said that i have major blues. My family thinks i am nuts because i have lost 28 lbs in 21 days but some how i just feel i could have done better. That is, if i was not so blue. I know i should be walking to move the weight loss along faster, but i mainly just want go to bed most of the time. Yes, I am on heavy meds for the depression. I Guess the disappointment in part is because a lady on here had said she lost 18 lbs before she left the hospital. And the weight just kept coming off at a real steady speed after she got home. It kind of makes me feel like a failure. The really sad thing is i know everyone is different and we should not compare our selves but it really got to me. Thanks for listening, Deb

Hi, Glad to hear from you. I am so lost in this process. I ate some very soft meats last week - boiled chicken and white fish and my surgeon had a fit. I told her I was following her "toolkit" but she then informed me it was for gastric bypass patients. She said "they verbally told me" but it was less than 24 hours after surgery!! I don't think my cognitive awareness was that good at that time. I was exhausted. What do they expect??? I think that just eating soft foods - like I did the 3rd week will be good. I would not eat fish or meat until after the 2nd or 3rd month. How have you been feeling emotionally? I have been down and irritable. Not my usual self. I had a good day today though. I hope this passes soon. Would love to hear more about your process and progress.

I had a drain... it was pretty gross. It didn't really hurt... except it was the most "squeemy" experience I ever had when it came out. Mine was uncomfortable and it leaked a lot, but there were other more painful things I was worried about! Don't worry about it... in the end it was just another thing
